You don't always yell at them, you just need to do it the first couple times so that they know you're serious when you say no - if you sound mad enough, they'll quickly learn what no means and soon enough you can just say it. They won't distrust you as long as you give him some lovin later when he's behaving well! It's like when your mom used to punish you, it has to happen so you learn how to behave, but you still love your mom after!
When you say aggressive is he actually trying to hurt you? Or is he trying to play and just doesn't understand what kind of play is appropriate? If he's jumping around and growling and really excited, it's playful behaviour and you just have to teach him how to play nicely.
But if it isn't playful aggressive you HAVE to let him know who's in charge. become the alpha dog immediately! Make sure everything you and your dog do is YOUR decision. petting time is your decision, play time is your decision, and don't give him any attention unless he's behaving in an appropriate manner. Attention is like a reward for them, so if your 'rewarding' him when he's aggressive he thinks he's allowed to repeat that behaviour.
and hitting will not teach them anything. I'm glad the cans working, but it's true if you use it too often, they will get used to it. Then you need to resort to something else if they haven't learned yet. remember, the idea with the can is to not let him know that YOU made the noise. Use it as a distraction to stop bad behaviour, then once he's quiet and looking for where the noise came from, reward him for behaving well - and right away too.

Remember, 10 weeks is really young for Yorkies, most don't leave their momma's until they are 12 weeks, so don't expect too much too soon. Be consistant with your rules and he'll soon learn how to be a friendly playful pup!

also, instead of bitter spray, I've heard someone before used watered-down listerine. I've never tried it, so I don't know if it works, but you could give it a go.

there's a member on here named scootiebootie who is a behavioural specialist. They will do email behavioural training for a small fee and it's great information. If you are having a really hard time, and just can't seem to get through to your pup, I would suggest that, or a behavioural/obedience class.

They sell bitter spray at petco.com or petsmart.com or petedge. I'm sure you can have it shipped- I did but it took forever to get it. I recommend Grannick's Bitter Apple Spray. I personally prefer not to yell at my pup so I take this alternative route of training- the bitter spray. It's been working so far, but sometimes he's afraid to lick my hands because he thinks it'll taste bad, which bums me out cuz I love his kisses, just not the biting! oh well. Good luck. I think the whole coin in a can thing works because it startles your pup just enough for him to stop biting you, but still doesn't hurt him. anyway, good luck!

My baby is now 3 months old and the biting is way worse, he is used to the can and bites me harder and attacks me when i say NO and ignore him. My dad started shoving him away and light hitting when he bit us but now it is out of control, and its not just at playtime its all the time. i am loosing my mind because i wanted a sweet loving puppy but he is so aggressive.
We have also got a rhodesian ridgeback (6 yrs) and all my yorkie wants to do is play but he bites.
Anyone with advice on stopping my baby from biting and introducing the 2 dogs will help so much:confused::idontknow:

Since it is aggressive biting, I would go into the member list and send member scootiebootie a pm, asking for email lessons immediately. From what I've heard they are really good, and I think they come at a really good price too!
Or check for behavioural specialists in your area that will do private lessons. But if it's only getting worse, you need outside help ASAP

If you really don't want to do that, have you tried the ignoring technique? Your pup needs a serious time-out EVERY time he bites... And remember to ALWAYS reward good behaviour (even if it's only for a short period of time.)
And it may be benneficial to switch between spray bottles and cans of coins so that he doesn't get used to them. Also, not sure if it will work for your pup, but sometimes I just blow in Scooter's face quickly (kinda like the spray bottle idea, but with air) he hates that too...

Again, my best suggestion is outside help at this point, because it sounds like nothing else is working. Best of luck to you!

You all have given some great advice...I've never had a bitter but one of they Chorkie pups I sold did. His mom said he liked the bitter apple flavor.
It didn't work with him.
