corky does the same thing and he always tries to sneak outside. he even taught himself how to jump over our half wall between the living and dining room to get to the front door. it drives me batty. i know he's a terrier, but we have 6 site hounds that don't run helter skelter around the neighborhood if they get out. |
Well if you punish him once you catch him that is the worst thing you can do, cause that just tells him that coming or being caught is a bad thing. My guess is that he thinks its a game. Next time he goes the other way run in the opposit direction and then lay down on the grass. I bet he'll come right to you :) Quote:

It Is Simple! Keep him on a leash, I too have the crates of heavy plastic, and NEVER EVER leave them out w/out a leash or unattended in the crate fence...I am in the kitchen and they are right out the door, I leave the kitchen door open so they can come in and out while I am cooking, etc. Or take it out by the garden when I am gardening and want them out w/ me...Sorry to say, but some of these things are No Brainers! |
Keep your little one always in a harness and leash when outside. You are very right, these little guys are fast! They are eager to explore and have a drive to run! PLease do not let him get away from you. There are too many tragic accidents that happen when out dogs take off on us. It is dangerous and entirely preventable. :aimeeyork |
