I was having the same problem. I now have Jack sleep with me. He still needs to pee one time during the night BUT I make him wait till I need to go. I give him a strong "down - Stay" command and he will lay back down in bed. He then is forced to wait until I am readly. FOr the first few nights of this I didnt sleep much becuase after I gave him the "down" command, Id lay awake and watch him until I needed to get up. After about 3 nights he got on MY schedule. I then take him to a pee pad and dont let him off it until he goes. He learned very quickly that he cant go back to bed until he pee's. Best of luck.... Yorkies are a bit of a challenge BUT they do come around once they see that you are in charge. Dont give up! |
My Honey does not like the crate, but does well in it if covered. It does seem to be security issue for them. While flying home to visit family, she was in a carry on crate and I covered it with my jacket and she slept like a baby all the way. It worked flying there and back. This is odd because she actually hates the crate and loves her freedom. She does well at night though, she'll sleep in till 6 am. That's normally the time my husband and I wake up for work, so she's use to getting up at that time to potty. If your yorkie prefers the crate, I would continue keeping him in the crate. Honey never liked the crate from the beginning so we had a difficult time keeping her in the crate. However, that actually became a benefit because when she was bad, she would have to sleep in her crate and it was a great way in training her. |
Don't Give Up! I Know That You Must Be Asking Yourself If He's Woth It? That Is A Question That Only You Can Answer. I Have Read That At A Year Old Alot Of The House Training Problems Start To Subside. I Too Have Successfuly Trained A Dog To Go Outside However I Have A Nine Month Old Girl Gigi That Will Have The Occasional Mistake. So This Is My Advice --- We Get Pets In Order To Enrich Our Lives Not To Make Them Worse. So You Need To Ask Yourself If The Good Out Weighs The Bad? Then Ask Yourself If The Negative Feelings Are Carried Into The Morning To Where You Don't Want To Be Around Him? If So Than You Need To Do Something? That Kind Of Situstion Is Not Healthy For You Or Your Logan. Lastly, I'm Sure Any Of Us Like Myself Would Love To Have Logan if It Came To That. Especialy Someone Like Me That Can't Afford Another One. |
