Babies Sleeping With You Hi Everyone, I'm just wondering when you let your babies sleep in the bed with you? Did you wait until they were fully potty trained or let the sleep with you from the first night? |
Well I let my babies sleep in bed with us but I just started this a few weeks ago. Because I would wake up to pee puddles on the bedroom floor and step in them so I started putting them in our bed since they cant get down. That way I know if they jump down and pee during the night. So in the morning I take them down and go straight outside and they have done fine no accidents in the bed yet and my babies are 2years old, 4months old and 3months old they sleep better in bed then they do in their beds. Plus its nice to have them to snuggle with since hubby wont. Oh I also put up a baby gate at the door so they cant leave the room and wonder at night if they do jump down. Just incase they really have to go potty I have a puppy pad in our bathroom, they do really good with it... So I have a bed full with 3 dogs and 2 cats there is hardly any room for the hubby and me. :) |
I don't let Gus sleep with us at night. He is so tiny I am scared that I am going to roll over him and hurt him. I didn't even let my human babies sleep with us for fear of the same thing. Gus sleeps in his crate at night. As long as he's next to me, he's fine. |
coco has slept with me since day 1. i like it because whenever he needs to pee he comes up to me or my hubby and either licks our faces or taps our faces with his paw it is so cute! |
I admit it... I was very naughty and let both boys sleep with us from day 1. Neither has ever had an accident. Both would sleep right next to my head and I would wake up and take them out every time they moved... Now they sleep in different areas of the bed and know to start walking on me when they need to go out... This morning it was at 5am... not fun when I don't go to bed until 2am  |
Brutus has never slept with us and he never will. I like that he has his own space with his bed and stuff. Plus my bed is so high you need a step stool to get on it! :p |
My Teddy has slept with me since day one. He is actually so spoiled that he refuses to go to sleep period unless I am there with him. I also have had good luck going that route because he also comes and wakes us up when he needs to do his business. And is there anyway better to be woken up in the morning other than with puppy kisses! |

. lexi has been sleeping with me also for like a month now.. she is 3 1/2 months old... it easier for me.. when she has to go potty she moves or she will get out from under the covers and go down the ramp to potty and come back up to sleep...... |
Tuck was in my bed from day one with only one or two accidents until he figured out how to navigate his pillow ramp down to the floor and his litter box. Love the litter box!!!!! Dana |
I never let Mocha sleep with me.. i always put her crate next to my bed so she knew i was close however, with lily mae, she cries so i have put her in bed with me both nights and she sleeps right up close and hasnt had an accident.. i keep a couple of old towels under her just in case but so far i am 2 for 2 |
BTW, do you think letting them sleep with you will have an affect of how they feel about their crate.. for instance, i am afriad if lily gets too attached, when i go back to work in september, i am afriad she will hate the crate.. I just thought i'd ask others opinions |
Tilly & sami both slept in bed with me the very first day I brought each one home  I didn't have the heart to make Sami sleep in a grate  I only use the crate for traveling only! although the crate is in my bedroom, sami uses it to play in or take his greenie there so tilly wont take it from him. they both were not potty trained, I just took them outside in the middle of the night. sami always woke me up ;) I never worried about rolling on him And if you had ever put your infant in bed with you to nurse and feel asleep It's kinda of the same when you have an infant you have to have an ear & eye open. but now sami will go out the doggy door but in the wee morning he will use his pee pad, I now only use the peepad at night time! trying to discourage him from using it all togeather  |
Yea, we let Bodhi sleep with us after a while. But, man, did I wake up with a sore neck and back for the longest time. Why? Because he'd get into the middle of the bed and I just couldn't bring myself to wake him up to move him. I'd end up sleeping on the edge and in one position all night so that I wouldn't roll on him. Hubby sleeps like a log and doesn't move at all, so he wasn't bothered. Lucky him, heh. Bodhi learned to sleep on the other side of hubby because I decided it's natural for me to make like a rotisserie chicken no matter who I wake. I'm always changing sleep position, ha ha. |
I didn't let Tuffy sleep with us until he was fully potty trained and reliable. I also felt with him that he would act up if he was allowed to sleep with us from day one. He is the type to think since he's up on the bed sleeping with the rest of the pack (me and my husband) that he could do whatever he wanted. Pixie doesn't sleep with us yet.. I'm still waiting for her to be fully potty trained before we take that leap. She did sleep with me while we were staying at my parent's house and she did great so she may be ready to come sleep with us now. The only problem she has is that if I get up to go to the bathroom she'll want to jump out of the bed or will be standing on my pillow when I get back and it's hard to see her sometimes. |
We have let Magic and Sailor sleep with us since they were each about five months...Magic usually gets up once to go potty and then goes straight back to bed...and Sailor just holds it throughout the night...we LOVE having our cuddle bugs with us in bed!!! |
All of our little one's have slept in bed since day one all of our lives and there's never been an accident. Never! :p While they are still young, they will wake you up to go out, but then they begin to sleep all night. |
Gucci sleeps with my hubby and I. She hasnt had any accidents on my bed. When she needs to go she gets down and goes to her pee pad and then jumps back to our bed or goes to hers. Brooke, since you are letting Lilly sleeps with you. I will say to start getting her use to the crate before you go back to work. Everytime you need to do house work or go out for awhile live her on her crate. Even if she cries. Just make sure that you do it slowly. Every time increase her time inside the crate. Remember that is not good either to have them inside a crate all day. Good luck. |
We started with Sadie in her crate next to the bed, then it was the crate on the bed because Hubby thought she would be happier closer to us. Now Sadie's out of the crate in bed with us. I like too because she's never had an accident and she wakes us up with a lot of sloppy kisses! |
Brody sleeps with me every night. This started on during his second night at our house. We would keep him locked up in the laundry room while we were gone or while we were sleeping, but every time we went to get him out, he was somehow inside of the laundry basket. And the laundry basket is three feet tall - like ten times taller than him. So during his second night, I woke up at 2:00 in the morning and I went to make sure he wasn't in the laundry basket. Well, he was. So I scooped him up and put him in bed with me. I always knew when he had to go to the bathroom because he would walk around the bed. Any time he was awake, I would take him outside to go potty. This was extremely beneficial to potty training him because he soon learned where he was supposed to go potty. I didn't sleep for two months, but it was worth it. I put a ramp next to the bed now so he can get on and off as he pleases (he prefers to jump, though). |
Sleeping in bed I am too scared Muffin will fall off the bed. My bed is about 2 feet off the ground. I have her sleep in her crate which I have placed a comfy cushion with a baby blanket and fluffy toy. She has just enough room to turn around in it. She seems to like it. She does not cry when I put her in it to sleep at night. |
Four Yorkies and a 60 lb. boxer.... 2 lb. 12 oz. 4.5 lb. 5.5 lb. and slightly over 7 lbs. lol |
Bailey has never slept with us and never will. My fiance would never allow that, for fear of him going to the bathroom on our bed. Even after he's 100% pottytrained I doubt he'd ever let him sleep with us. |
Missy sleeps with me and hubby! In the cold weather she gets under the covers! |
my bed is kind of high up. my biggest concern would be Bailey falling off the bed. what kind of ramps do you guys use for them to walk down to go potty? i would love for bailey to sleep with me, i'm just too scared :D |
AT FIRST I WAS AFRAID BECAUSE SHE WAS TOO SMALL AND I WAS AFRAID TO HURT HER BUT A MONTH LATER SHE STARTED SLEEPING ON THE BED WITH ME.AND I LOVE IT :p |
Mollie has slept with us from day 1 she had 1 accident. She has always from the first night has woke me up by licking me in the face to let me know when she needs to go out. I wouldn't have it any other way. Now she alternates between the floor and the bed. Since she had her puppies a few days ago, I leave her downstairs with the babies and leave our door open and several times in the night she woofs at me to let me know she wants in the bed, then when she hears her babies she jumps down. I hope she soon starts jumping up again so she dosen't keep getting me up. |
Maximus started sleeping in his bed on the floor..after about 2-3 weeks he had somehow managed to get me to let him in my bed...he never has had an accident and always wakes me up to go down and pee and then comes back to the bed. This is the ideal situation for me because after he goes pee we can just go back to sleep...while when he was sleeping down in his bed he would start playing and running around the bedroom!! |
