I will say Joey, that it will take as long as YOU want it to take. The puppy can not train themselves. It is totally up to YOU. If YOU are consistant, it should have already gotten it down about 95%. |
There really is no magic number as someone has said, but it is in most cases, longer than a number of other different dog breeds. My German Shepherd was housebroken in 1 week after we got her as a 6 week old puppy. My first two yorkies were close to a year each even with diligence, but Tucker is doing quite awesome at a little over seven months with the litter box. Only a couple accidents a week now...YAY!!!!! we got Bentley when he was 2 months old and started trying to train him then.. he's now 5 1/2 months and he's gettin pretty good about going potty outside..but he does have his accidents every once in awhile. |
Linus is 97% trained for pee pee and about 60% trained for poop. He's 5 months old and just now is really getting it. It's been about a week since a pee pee accident...poop is another story. |
I've had a hard time potty traning my Pixie. She's a little over 6 months old and still not 100%. She seems to get too busy playing to actually walk all the way to the pad (a few steps away) and instead will just pee wherever she is. It's been my only training problem with her. She's getting better but as soon as I give her any kind of extended freedoms she starts regressing. I usually end up having to backtrack in training and start again. My Maltese was a lot easier to train. He was probably about 95% within a month and was 99.9% by 6 months. But I've basically heard that toy breeds are notoriously hard to potty train.. so just have patience. :) That's what I keep telling myself anyways. :p |
My experience is about 8-10 months old they are pretty darn good. But I'm not very experienced with a boy. |
