I have a 4 mo. old and he is giving me problems also, he does not hold it at night and poops in his crate also, during the day i keep with the feeding waiting 20 min. taking him out and he does go outside, when i'm in the house i walk around with him on a leash. Yesterday, he started to squat and i scooped him up took him out and he finished outside. The night thing has been the worse, so i might just keep him in a small area tonight with a pee pad, because i don't think it would be a good idea to bathe him againa and again. Try the leash, it does help, you tend to forget when they are walking around freely. |

Oh yes, with scooby it was a daily bathing several times a day as he used to wallow in it. I have some good news, but i dont want to sepeak too quickly He did his FIRST poo outside this morning at 5am with hubby and wee also:thumbup: . That was the very first one quite runny and like diarrhea, but I suppse that is from change of food:confused: he also has not made one single accident in his bed, crate or box for 24 hours YAYYYYYYYYYYY:thumbup: |
That is great, i guess persistence does work after all. |
And he did is second and third big poo outside again and even WEED, but it took him ten hours holding his urine before he would let it out outside, but he finally did:D |
Ok, me and my big mouth:mad: while he has reverted to pooing and peeing at certain places out side, he has chosen two favorites places to poop and pee in the house, wash room at the door raising leg and doing it, then IN MY bedroom is where he prefers to lay a poop:mad: . Now this is just within seconds of bringing him back in after peeing and also poopig, so why has he started to do this now? I mean he laid a huge poop outside then proceeds to do it inside as well, same for the pee:mad: |
When he arrived I proceeded to let him have the whole wash room with pee pad and newspapers. That didnt work out well. so I encouraged him to go to the patio, mind you I took him there, and he did it each time he went there. Now he has graduated to the outdoors, where he may go at times, but still will go in the house and where ever he feels even after doing it outdoors, ignoring the pee pads and the paper. So I have started back confining him to the crate for longer periods, rather than the washroom, am I doing this wrong? I mean he is holding for long periods SOMETIMES , and once out of the crate he gets a nice long walk and potty time. Most times he wont go, but will like the walk, so no pee no poo back in the crate after the for an hour to two, then I try again. Is this bad for me to to this? If I only let him loose in the confined wash room after coming back in when he has not done it in hours, he proceeds to pee or poop not on the paper or pad but anyplace but that. Is confining him for a couple to a few hours at a time bad? He makes a stink but then settles down and becomes quiet. I have tried to give him freedom everytime he does both at the same time. then he earns up to 4 to 5 hours freedom in the washroom with lots of toy and meat bones etc and his buddy. All I want to know is this, am I doning this wrong or right? He is not a tiny baby so every 30 minutes is not an option as he wont go. I dont have a closed in yard so I must take him out each time on leash and wait, come rain, shine, hail or wind or freezing temps. At first I was doing the every hour and that is not doing anything as he just looks at me and wants to play and do nothing, apparently he is able to hold for several hours. Yesterday he downgraded from holding long to 3.5 hours, I noted this. So now I have an idea he may go every 3 hours now, that is WHEN uncrated. So I am now crating him for 2 to 3 hours at a time, then back out again. Am I wrong to do this? I just cant trust he wont pee and poop on the floor soon as I turn my back. If you read the above post you will see what he did yesterday, he did it and then came back and proceeded to do it again, so I have decided to just crate him once he is back in if there was nothing done. But then he did something and still did it a short while afterwards. So what am I to do? Crate or dont crate and let him just do it as he pleases? House training has got to be a dog owner's most stressful time |
