| He's almost 3 and still not potty trained We're at our wits end with Jackson. We love him so much, but his potty issues are so frustrating. We know that he knows he's not supposed to do it inside the house, but as soon as we turn our head for 10 seconds, he's gone to poo or pee in the corner. We've tried it all...piddle pads, the bell chime on the door, taking him out on the hour, we crate train, etc. We just don't know what to do. He has his usual spots that he's known for going potty at. And we've put pads there in each spot, but he manages to just overlook them and pee right next to them. When we ask him if he needs to go potty, he'll run to the door and rush outside and sniff and then pee. So, I know he know what he needs to do. its just the times when we turn our back and he's off. What do you suggest? Thanks!!!

| I wanted to add that I have decided to put him in a diaper when we are at guests houses. He does the "excited" pee and we wanted to make sure that he didn't pee in anyone's house. Do you think I could use these as aids for the potty training? If so, how?

| Good luck in getting an answer and fixing Jackson's problem. I really don't have any answers but ive been reading for a similar problem like yours and it seems alot of the dogs know they are doing wrong, so perhaps its because yorkies have a stubborn nature, they thinking its funny, they are trying to upset or too lazy to go to the designated area. Does he go to the designated area when he is near that area? Or will he do it any besides where he is suppose to? |

| If you crate train him, does he pee/poop in the crate? If not, then you have something to work with. I think if you want to completely potty train him, you might have to get your carpet steam cleaned so that there is absolutely no scent. If he has designated "spots" where he is going, it means that there is still enough of a scent there for him to pick up. So I would get the carpets cleaned, or do it myself. Then, if he is good with the crate, you might have to set up a strict schedule of him being in the crate when you cannot watch him. This means he will have zero chance of sneaking off and going pee. So he would have a schedule for eating, playing, and going outside to do his business. And all other times when you can't watch him, he must be in his crate! You might also want to stick to just one potty training method. Either have him go outside or use the potty pads, whichever one you prefer.
