| KONG Treat Toy Is it safe for my puppy? I read the Chai Story wherein the dog's tongue got caught in the hole of the Four Paws Pimple Ball with Bell. The KONG also has holes in it for treats to be placed. My concern is, can it be as dangerous as the Pimple ball?

YT Graphic Artist Donating Member | The kong is perfectly safe. The toy in that story you read was a ball that did not have holes on both ends (thus creating a vaccuum). The kong toys have holes on both ends.

There are funny blue ones at the vets he said they are so he can see them on x-rays. I failed to ask just how many have been swallowed though as mine never have. i run one size up from what they should have to make sure we have no swallowing of it. Must remember to ask next time I go in. JL Last edited by YorkieMother; 09-17-2008 at 07:39 PM. | |

| Kongs are the BEST!!! Fiona has the puppy pink one, and she adores it. It's a really good toy to help keep your puppy/dog busy if your trying to do something, or if you have to crate your animal during the day. I usually put a treat, food, cheerios, or cheese in it, and let her have fun during the day. You can also put something in it, freeze it overnight and let them have it in the crate if you work during the day. |

| Baxter has the red kong and it only takes him about 60 seconds to go through whatever I put in it. I usually stuff it with kibble and then seal the end with a liver treat. |

| Both of my dogs love Kongs. In fact they are the only toys my JRT can't destroy. I just bought Cooper a Kong bone: Kong Puppy Goodie Bone - Toys - New Puppy Center - PetSmart. It takes him longer to get the treats out of both ends than out of a regular Kong. Plus (and this is a HUGE plus) the Kong bone doesn't roll, so he can't get it under the couch or coffee table.

| both of mine love kongs too--Sometimes I'll use the kong biscuts to put inside or once in awhile I'll put peanut butter in them--stick it in the freezer for a little while and then give it to them. It keeps them busier longer although they still manage to get thru them pretty quickly.

| My yorkie LOVES the kong. I fill it with little treats and sometimes put some paste in it. It challenges her and keeps her busy for awhile trying to get all the treats out. The kong toy has holes at both ends so their tongues won't get stuck in it unlike that other toy. I highly recommend the kong. |

| Kongs are wonderful and I use both the red and the white in two sizes but like all toys knowing they can cause problems is a must. Kong blue RADIOPAQUE material - visible on x-rays ( yes some dogs can chew the orignals up) Higher tensile strength, 25% stronger than regular Kongs More puncture resistant than regular Kongs Stretches more than other rubber toys on the market Natural Rubber (NEW) Kong Blue Why Kong Toys Are The Best Toys For Dogs - The Fun Times Guide to Dogs Read bottom of page above as to what Careasa said about the new blue kongs

| I use Kong toys with my dog..they're very durable and they do a pretty good job at getting plaque off teeth, from chewing, etc. Although I usually stick with Bright Bites dental treats to do that job. My favorite Kong toy though is the ball, since my dog loves to play fetch. It's much easier to throw a ball than a snowman-shaped toy. |
