| Toys for 1 Year Olds and Other Ages Yorkies Hello. I'm needing advice on what type toys to get for 3-1 year old female Yorkies, 1-2 year old Male and a 3-year old Male. (Name Brands of toys and Places on the internet to buy at) I've looked at Wal-Mart and they don't have anything that I don't think mine won't tear up fast. My girls seem like all they are doing is fussing, growling, chasing, tail pulling, biting each other...And my boys sleep alot....I'm wondering if it isn't due to them being bored with their toys they have now...They are ALL rough with any toys...Tear up stuffed animals or anything with stuffing in them...Don't last 5 minutes before they realize how to tear them all apart. We all play with them but them have other things to get done and they are going at it again soon as I get up off the floor with them. Same with my younger daughters...Love to romp with us but once we're done with them here they all go back to fussing or sleeping. Any teething rings or bones they all chew them up in a heart beat...Not intrested in the Kongs much...I was thinking balls, noise makers??? Something to get them into playing more with the toys and NOT fussing at each other or sleeping so much and some things for them to play with us with. Any SAFE toy you have tried that will last for awhile with 5 Yorkies??? LOL. I need something for them. HELP!!! Thanks and Hugs Lee |

| The best nondestructable toy i've found are the CUZ toys. They make the most annoying noise, but Laney and Slade love them! you can find them on PetEdge.com Wholesale prices on exclusive dog grooming and pet supplies . and there are several other places to order them from as well- I believe PetSmart carries them too. Mine used to tear up toys alot! Then I bought a BUNCH of toys at one time, and the toys lasted longer because they seemed to chew up a toy when they got bored with it, but when i gave them several at one time, they had enough that they didn't get bored. When Laney was a pup she would tear up every toy I brought home. after I started buyiing a bunch at one time, the toys lasted longer and now we have over 150 toys. They tear up maybe one or two a month, but used to the toys didn't last one day. A place to find cheap stuffy toys is The Dollar Tree.

| We love Dr. Noy's toys with replaceable squeakers. My girls are loving Hide-A-Toys, any kind but their favorite remains the Hide-A-Squirrel Junior. Another favorite is the Babble Ball, but the best toy of all is playing with one of the kitty cats!

| I like plain cotton rope toys plus as they play with them they string their teeth. I also get the cheap Wal-mart squeeky toys that are 95 cents. Keeps them entertained, but I throw them away after they tear them up. My Samantha played with a blue hand ball 24/7. That was her world. |

| Mine both like their hide a squirrel. I have a yorkie and a collie but they both enjoy playing with it and neither have destroyed it yet. It was given to us several months ago by an awesome secret buddy in the gift exchange. |

| Mine have all kinds of toys. But the one is a carrot that is small and has a sqeaker of course inside. They have at least 3 of those. But they like to pick one up and the others chase one yorkie for the one they have. Sometimes they go round and round the coffe table then another will block them and they turn around and head the opposite way. Silly little dogs. But it last them a long time. Oh and that is a PetSmart toy!

| My Confession My Confession to each of you!!! I have a REAL reason to be SCARED of just about anything after what I went through this past Jan. I didn't want to say anything for I didn't want to look like a Jacka-- but it happens and everyone MAKES mistakes and yep I do too lol. See I did a big BOO BOO and everyone here should LISTEN to this ONE as it is a very VALUEABLE LESSON for ME!!!!!!!! In January before our Big Bonnie went to live with my Cousin Roger in Ohio...I had my cleaning supplies in a small cat litter pan on top of her crate...THOUGHT I had it all out of her reach lol...Well I had the Mr. Clean THIN disposable GLOVES in that litter pan that I put on to clean their litter pans with when they all was litter box trained. Well Bonnie got up to potty in our Yorkie Room on a Sat. she was squaling and bawling...Trying to poo...I thought what in the world is wrong with her. It was there (Poo) I could see it but COULD NOT help her get it out...Scared the living Poo out of me as I had NEVER been through this before. I called the Vet right away and told them what was going on they said get dishwashing liquid to help her I said all I got it with BLEACH...NO they said so they said try Baby Oil...I did. NO luck...So they said it sounds like something is blocking her bowels I said no way...They haven't had anything at all to play with to do this...Bring her in so Hubby was in the shower and he was going to run her to the Vet. Here she started throwing up and still hollering...I'm running to the bathroom hollering hurry up she's gonna die on us before you get out of the shower...So what seemed like hours ended up being a few minutes and off to the Vet they went. Once there she had passed it...Vet looked at her and it and said lets hope it's Worms & NOT Strings... Hubby said HOPE it's WORMS...She said YES we can TREAT Worms but if it's Strings that is wrapped around her organs then she would be in trouble for it is a VERY serious operation as they have to TAKE ALL their ORGANS out and UNWRAP the STRINGS and put them all back in and a lot of DOGS DIE from this operation. Well she looked at what she passed couldn't figure out what it was...Said to watch her and let them know. He brought her poo back to me...I looked at it and RIGHT off I said it's one of my GLOVES!!! Hubby said NO WAY... I said look at the top of it...the band where it goes up above your hand to help hold it on was all that was left. And sure enough that was what it was.. I called the Vet and told them I was sorry that they we're right it was a Bowel Obstruction and I was wrong, told them what it was. She was fine from there on out...And NOW there is NEVER anything on their crates except a carrier maybe lol. Vet said to watch STRINGS on their BLANKIES and TAGS on them...This is the MOST common Bowel Obstructions they see here where we live...So I cut all strings away and tags off of anything they play with and check them all each time I wash their laundry. Our Vet said the rope bones was okay for them to play with, just watch the strings in the middle as they are longer and if they got one loose and ate it then it COULD cause them trouble. I learned from this experience BIG TIME...So now can you see why I'm so fearful of ANY toys they play with??? So now what do I do and get them to play with that would be SAFE for their ORGANS and such...I really am so scared but I don't think it's fair for them not to have many toys to play with due to my fear. This is the toys I let them play with even when I'm not in the room with them: Rope Bones (I watch the strings in the middle of them as they are longer and could hurt them if they was to eat them) Nylabone Regular Ring and the blue chew bone...(They love these and they last a LONG time) I do have other squeekie toys that they play with when I'm in the room with them but as soon as I leave they go up out of their reach...I need some toys that I can leave out all the time for them and not have to worry that they may get hurt on them... I'm in and out of their rooms on and off all day long...They are not left alone for hours at a time. The longest time alone would be say like a hour or less. I have 2 picnic baskets FULL of stuffed toys they received for Christmas but since going through this with Bonnie they are brand new and haven't played with them. It's awful what fear this has put in me. Now since I've gave my confession any thoughts on toys now??? Thanks Lee |

| Lee, thanks for sharing your story about what happened to Bonnie. I think sometimes no matter how careful we are these guys will find something to get into. I let mine play with small stuffed toys. I hate is when they start tearing the stuffing out of them. Mostly it is the young ones that like to play. The older guys could care less. I give mine cow ears and cow hooves to chew on and that seems to keep them satisfied. Of course the younger ones like to play with each other. They all seem to have more fun if they get hold of something they should not have, like if I drop a paper towel.....they grab it a take off like it was a big prize. It is amazing how many pieces they can make out of one paper towel. |

| Yikes! I never thought that a Yorkie could eat a glove like that! Thanks for the warning, Tiffany. I'll keep an extra close eye on my little girl. She just loves to grab things I drop and she's perfected the art of getting dryer sheets out of the package while I'm unloading the washer! Pixel's favourite toys are the "Air Dog" squeaky balls. They're the perfect size for her little mouth, but pose no risk of choking. They're light, too, so they won't hurt her when she prances around with them. They've stood up to some serious gnawing as well. She occasionally plays with her Kong and enjoys Dentasticks, but favours anything that has to have her human's participation too!

Can I get the cow ears and cow hooves online? Is there a special Brand Name you get yours? Do they break their face and beard fur? I'm trying to find toys that will not harm their face and beard (Have to watch this for Sage). It is cute when they think they have something like the paper towel and take off with it. When I change their puppy pads, I have the holders and I lay the puppy pads down on the floor already opened, here one of them runs up and grabs it and trys to take off with it...Usually Sofie. LOL.
