Hide a Squirrel by Kyjen - QUESTION?
 
Stedman has a Birthday coming up next month, and then there is also of course Valentines Day, which is not even a week before his Birthday. I am so fed up with trying to find him cute toys here (I found ONE really cute one today - this precious little turtle - but that was it!) - so, I have decided to just say to heck with it and I am ordering him some online :D

I want to get him one of the Hide A Squirrel toys, but I have a question. I was going to get him the SMALL one (he likes to be able to carry things around in his mouth so that he can run away with it because little sissy steals toys LOL) - anyway....do any of you have the SMALL one? Is it super super tiny?? I don't want it to be TOO tiny...but small enough if that makes any sense :p

As soon as I find out if this size is ok, I will go and order it for my boy :D

I have the small....and it's not tiney tiny. The squirrels themselves are about 5 -6 inches long and the little tree trunk is maybe 8 inches tall or so. Those are guesses. It's a good size. I saw the large size in a store while on vacation and thought it was too big.

I don't have a link for you, but I bought ours off eBay using a BIN, and it was much cheaper than the store even with shipping.

I have two of them, one is about 6", would that be the small? The other is probably about 10" tall. Ruby and Reno are each under 4lbs and play with both sizes. The squirrels for the larger one aren't too big for them to carry and run with either.....also it is kind of fun to watch Reno, stick his head inside the larger one to get the squirrels:p . I don't know if his head will fit in the smaller one.

Thank you SO much! I will go ahead with the small then :D :thumbup: Oh and by the way...I too am buying this one off eBay and it is MUCH cheaper than any I've seen! :D

Hehe....here you go :) I've attached a picture of the toy for you, and pasted it's desciption below ;)

Develop and strengthen eye-paw coordination skills as your pet discovers how to remove the squeaker squirrels from inside the Hide A Squirrel. Keeps your dog entertained, active and busy for extended periods of time, eliminating boredom.

For additional fun and variety, place favorite pet treats or other toys inside the Hide A Squirrel.

Instructions:
Introduce the squirrels by removing them from inside the Hide a Squirrel. Encourage your dog to play with them. As your dog watches, insert the squirrels back into the Hide a Squirrel (squeak them as you insert them). Then let your dog play with the toy.

IMPORTANT PLEASE NOTE: Do not leave dog unattended with this toy. Larger dogs may be able to swallow the smaller plush pieces.

Hmmm, yeah...I think that may very well be the small one :) I think I will go ahead with this size and try it out and see how he likes it :thumbup: Heck, if he ends up loving it, I may just go ahead and get him one of the Hide a Bee's as well, but in the bigger size just so I can watch him stick his head in it LOLOL :D

We have the regular size one that we recieved from the last GE. Both of the boys love it! As for eBay, I guess it really depends on shipping if you buy more from the same seller or not.

Punkin has the small one and she loves it. She is just under 8 pounds and the squirrels are a perfect size for her.

Bailey has the squirrel one and its a perfect size for him to put in his mouth....Bailey is 3 1/2 lbs

I have the small one and it's not too small..it's just right in my opinion for them.

I want to get the hide hide a bird and the squirrel. We currently have the bee...it's too cute.

I got Reagan the small one & she loves it but I left it with her in her x-pen one day while I went to work next door & when I come back the poor lil baby had her head stuck in the trunk of it! I liked to have stroked she was going round & round in a complete circle w/her poor lil head stuck!!! I let her have the squirrels to play with & then when I can watch her in the den I let her have the whole thing!

Thanks so much girl! :D I ordered that other one last night on eBay....actually, the price was really great :D $7 bucks and only $2 shipping ;) :thumbup: And of course it is new in box....seller had excellent feedback :) I can't wait to get it!!

Awww, I know! You know what - stupid me....I should have looked through that sellers other items to see if they had the bird one or the bee....errrr! :mad: That was so dumb of me, lol. Hmmm, maybe I should go look and see :p I don't think the item has been shipped yet, so maybe if they do have them they will just let me add them on to my order :p

Awwww! Poor little darling! :( Well thank you so much for this reminder because even though my Stedman is pretty smart....if either of my babies were to get their head stuck in the thing, TRUST ME....IT WOULD BE TATUM. lol :laugh: I'm sure after I get it I will come on here with stories of her and that thing LOL. She is always getting herself into some kind of predicament :p I have to watch her like a 2 year old :p

Fails to mention...it keeps YOU entertained, active, and busy for extended periods of time....because YOU are the one putting the squirrels back inside their little trunk house. :D

Btw, my youngest, Reese, did manage to get his head stuck inside the trunk once. Little yorkie body with a tree trunk head. :eek: And that was very entertaining...LOL.

LOL very true....it will be keeping me busy too huh :p Oh my gosh, I seriously think that little Stedman is going to just LOVE this thing :p :D

And LOL Reese....I just read another story about a little one getting their head stuck in it too - lol geez...I am really going to have to watch them with this thing! I just want to make sure that their are no stuck heads when mommy is gone or something LOL. I guess if I can't watch them with it, I'll just hide it from them :p

I didnt read all the other post yet so Im not sure if this has already been said but since I used to sell hide a squirrels and I personally own the toy for my girls, I thought I would post. I personally recommend you get the "junior" size hide a squirrel. This is the smallest size and the best size for dogs under 15 lbs. The next size up is quite a bit bigger and doesnt suit small dogs as well as the junior size.

Hey Shana :) Uh oh...now I am a bit nervous :( I just bought one (on eBay) and in the auction it said that it was a size "small" :confused: I have no idea if he just didn't have the size name right or what. He gave the measurements in the auction and it said that it was about 5 inches tall I think...and 4.5 inches wide? Is this about the size of the one that you have for your babies? I hope the one I got won't be too big...that is exactly what I was trying to AVOID :(

What you ordered sounds like the Junior size or the smaller size. If it is not what you want you can always sell it again on ebay and get your money back.

Oh good, thank you so much :) I hope it is the right one! :thumbup: Regardless, as long as it's not TOO big...I'm sure Steddy will play with it :) He isn't picky with his toys...I just prefer to get him ones that are smaller so that he can carry them around in his mouth as that is always what he likes to do :)

I ordered the small one on ebay too! I wasn't sure of the size either and then I saw one in the pet store and they're fairly small (at least much smaller than I thought they would be) but sooo cute! I can't wait for it to arrive, although Zoe isn't really into toys much now but maybe in a few weeks LOL

I think I got mine from dog.com....but I can't remember. I love the small....Mojo can carry the squirrels around. He only plays with the squirrels, not the trunk as a puzzle like it is suppose to be. Oh well......they are really cute. We are going to buy the bee and bird replacements...just so we can have the small toys!

Awww, well we will have to let each other know how our babies like them :D I can't believe that I am JUST NOW ordering Stedman one of these LOL. I have been wanting to get him one forever and just now actually bought one. He has so many toys, you'd think I would have bought one of these ages ago :p

I bet little Zoe will start liking her toys soon...maybe once she gets all settled in :) My babies are just totally nuts about theirs! :D

I was wondering about that...if Stedman would only carry around the squirrels and not even use the toy as a puzzle like they are supposed to lol. Then again though, he is so smart so I wouldn't doubt if he actually did figure out how to do it :p Tatum on the other hand though...haha, I don't know if she will be able to get the hang of it :p It will definitely be interesting to see them play with this thing, I can't wait to get it in! :thumbup:

Hey girl, I didn't read the other responses but I wanted to let you know that the junior size one is NOT super tiny. We have this one and its a good size for the babies. Paisley loves this thing. When she gets her little friends out of the holes she gets so darn proud. :p Steddy will love this thing. :D

i bought one for morgan last christmas. She loves the squirrels but doesn't really play with the whole trunk/squirrel combo. she'd rather run around in circles squeaking the squirrel. She HAS gotten her head stuck in the trunk before which, i'm sorry to say, was HILARIOUS to see.
