| Allowed in back garden after 1st vaccination....? My new pup will be vaccinated at 8 weeks, and have the second one at 12 weeks. I was wondering if he can be let into the enclosed back garden after the first jab? We have neighbours with cats, that probably use our back garden. The breeder says don’t let him out, and the vet says its ok. Otherwise he will be 14 weeks before I can start taking him out to get toilet trained.

| We've always let any pup we've had out into the back garden and also in my parents garden too. If the vet says it's fine then I would think he knows what he's talking about.

| the sooner you start with toilet training the better so let your pup into the garden but I would not advise you taking it out for walks until after the second vaccination |

| I took Denzil out into the garden from the first day we got him at 8 weeks (he was between vaccinations also) and he was fine. After the second vac we had to wait another 5 days before we could take him out for a proper walk. |

| It's confusing isn't it, breeders have one set of advice and vets have another! |

| I just took my puppy in yesterday for his vaccination and my vet said it's ok to go to our backyard. I told her there are stray cats and I don't want him to get fleas as I have not started him on that yet. We just got him this past Saturday. We are going back next week for his rabies shot and a booster shot in a month. My vet said not to take him out on walks until all is taken care of. |
