| You should really only breed your dog if he meets the standard and has had all of his health testing (knees, liver....). I'm sure he is a doll but that is never a good reason to breed a dog. Yorkie breeding should be left to the professionals who devote their lives to making the breed better. |

Thor's Human Donating Member | There are so many unwanted dogs in this country already. Since dogs have more than one puppy at a time, consider how many more pets we would have if everyone mated their dogs. Unless you want to start a serious breeding program with the medical tests others have mentioned, the responsible thing to do is neuter. There are also benefits for you and your boy. Small, intact male dogs are notorious marking maniacs. This habit intensifies after mating, and once he mates, he may not stop even if he is neutered afterwards. Intact male dogs are more aggressive, and are more likely to cause aggressive responses in other dogs. Intact males can smell a female in heat up to a mile away, and will do anything, including running out of your house and aross busy streets, to get to her.

| Not sure why you would want him to mate one time, but please reconsider having him neutered.

| Neutering your male should be your choice only.............if you want to breed him do so........if you dont you dont have to...........but you dont have to neuter him if you dont want to....either he will mark or he wont......but either way.............he is your baby and your decision..........good luck

Donating YT 10K Club Member | I'd say indiscriminate breedings has been a definite detriment to the breed and why lots of "yorkies" do not look like yorkies. If you have been given breeding rights and your dog is a excellent example of the breed and healthy then he could be considered worthy of breeding, but only then and only when paired with a female of the same caliper.
