I absolutely understand your concern!! The fact that they have to go to sleep in those little cages breaks my heart. I especially hate when they have big dogs in those little cages. So inhumane. But yes, maybe you are right. You never know. I usually read people very well, and I hope that I am right about this pet store.... ugh puppy mills make me sick

Unfortunately everyone who buys from a pet store has that story, that the store owner was the breeder or he/she personally knows all the breeders of the dogs in their store. I think California law says pet stores must post what state the breeder resides for each dog.
