| To all YT members in California How are you all doing? I would like to hear from you and how you are doing. I know some on this page said they had to evacuate such as Payton. My thoughts and prayers have been with you.

| I hope you all found your home in good condition and didn't have to leave a furkid behind or have one get lost from the commotion.

| Thanks for the kind thoughts! Thankfully, Yorba Linda this year is untouched by the fires. The air quality here is horrible though, because we are fairly close to Santiago Canyon. There are a few members here that are much closer though, and really felt the adverse effects of that smoke. I feel so bad for all those poor folk who lost their homes; I cannot begin to imagine what they are going through. For all of you that have been worried about Payton after her evacuation post last week, I heard from her today, and she also posted that she is fine, as is her home. She was definitely one of the lucky ones in her area. So many people there lost everything... so sad. Hugs to all of you that were concerned about us down here, Lauren

| I'm currently working at the Irvine Local Assistance Center for the fire victims, and there are so many devastating stories! One gentleman sold the property and assets he had, in order to get cash to build a home in Irvine - his first official home. After personally building the entire house by hand (he's an engineer), they moved in on Friday, he threw his wife a HUGE birthday bash on Saturday, they were evacuated Saturday night, and the entire house burned to the ground on Sunday. They had just had thousands of dollars of new furniture delivered that Friday. And...the really horrible part of the story...their appointment with the insurance company was on MONDAY...the day AFTER the house burned down. The insurance company told them they'd have a month "umbrella" coverage for the period they move in to the time it takes to get the insurance "officially" set-up, but now they're denying everything. So...he has no money (sunk everything they had into building the house), they have no house or possessions, and they have no insurance to fall back on. He said they've been getting by since the evacuation on credit cards, but that he doesn't know how long they can do that. He said his wife can't deal with it (I'm sure she's a basket-case like I would be), and that the only way HE can deal with it is to start building again. He came in here yesterday, desperately looking for some permits to get started building again. He said if he dwells on everything that has happened, he'll be destroyed as well (like his wife), and that the only way for him to make it through is to start building and move on. I CANNOT even imagine!!!! Those of us that didn't lose anything are SO lucky!!!! My thoughts and prayers are still with ALL victims of these fires. |
