I know, here I am with Scooter sleeping in my lap, already dreading the day we aren't together anymore.

It's hard not to dread it, but you have to try for both your sakes.. I do know what you mean, Jody. That's why it took me so long after Watson's death to even want to try to love another dog. It is hard not to dread the time when you know that precious Chipper (or Dylan too) won't be here, and we have to go through that awful walk again. And yet we have to for their sakes and our own. It makes you cherish the time more when you know there is a time limit, but isn't that the truth no matter who you love? It's just with our furry friends, we know the time is more marked, and the knowing is the painful part. The line is just so thin, and you have to make that choice to bring your mind and heart back into today, or else we end up cheating ourselves and our little cuties too. You don't want to have any more regrets that we all will feel no matter what, and if you shorten TODAY by thinking of what tomorrow will bring (or next year or five years) you're cutting back on the time you have just to love and be loved back. It's hard, but don't do that to yourself, you sound like a really special person, and Chipper deserves the best part of who you are. Judy

Thanks, Judy. You are a very wise woman and I take what you say to heart. Tell me, are you a native Georgia girl? I was born in South Georgia and spent most of life living all over the state. Hugs and Hugs to you!!!

It's just too bad, it's broken hearts that make us wise isn't it? Hi Jody, I lived for a few years down in Tifton, Albany Georgia area, and then on up to Atlanta (which is WAY different!) for the rest of my hundred years or so! I do feel kinda funny being on a site that loves and talks about Yorkies when I've got a Westie, but isn't it the truth that while we all may have different kinds of dogs, the same kind of heart is at work. We want them healthy, happy and thriving for as long as we can. Give Chipper a hug for me, and me and my tomboy Dylan wave to you both!

Judy, this is unbelievable! I was born in Moultrie, lived in Albany, have relatives all over Tifton, then when my kids were grown, I moved to Atlanta and lived there for 10 years! My daughter is still there. I've lived in many, many towns in Georgia growing up. We must be sisters under the skin!!! And I have about 100 years on me too! Hug your babies for me!

If you notice, the picture is taken at a distance, tee-hee...I'm 57 age wise, but still a kid in my heart of hearts! I can tell we're going to have to get together sometime!

Thanks for being so kind... Jody, I'm sorry that I slipped and said 'Chipper' I meant Scooter, and as soon as I hit 'submit' I felt like pounding on a 'return to idiot' key and couldn't find it. Ya'll have been on my mind so much, but thanks for not mentioning my gaffe. So, do Yorkie people even LIKE Westie people??

Thanks! Your reply was just too sweet! What I really love is having found this site by accident looking up Westies for rescue and saw the question about the kennel where I bought Dylan. I wanted to gently say that I'm no expert, but maybe there were kinder, gentler places to find a puppy. Then what I get is a wonderful, loving place with even lovelier people! It just occurred to me, I got rescued!

You know, you're probably right, that comes from having the same kind of heart for animals. They rescue us, and then we rescue one another!
