The health guarantee is what turns me away, there sure isn't much of one. 3 days isn't a very long guarantee and serious health defects don't show up until later. |

It is a little worrying also per the website that puppies are available year around. How many litters are being bred in a year and how many females would there be breeding and producing puppies? |

She states on her site that "We have yorkie puppy's for sale most of the time, throughout the year." She mentions selling them in several states, so it makes sense that someone would have quite a few if they are selling them all over. She also mentions on her Yorkshire dam page that she will be breeding Mercedes who is 3.5 along with a few others in the low 4lb range. I hope she isn't breeding Diamond & Daisy, but if she isn't, then why have them listed on her dam page? A few things bother me, the size of her dogs and the puppies are mentioned over and over. It seems clear to me she is really targeting someone looking to buy a "tiny." There just is too much emphasis on size and that turns me off, personally. This is just a pet peeve of mine, but her site is littered with mis-spelled words. Someone who has a web site should make sure they have everything spelled correctly! Her contract bothers me. What testing does she do? I don't know her or have any dealings with her, but just giving my impression based on her site! |
Yes... she is a wonderful person... I can send pictures of our beautiful little boy if you want! |
I too have purchased from her. We got our puppy in Feb but unfortunately, she collapsed and died in June. We were heartbroken, I called Twila to tell her and she immediately said she would replace her. I wanted another girl and it is now December and she just told me they have a girl! I have visited their home and played with her dogs. I have even held them and honestly, I didnt notice a difference in size from the heavier ones vs the lighter ones. I have had yorkies for 23 years, my first for 13 years and my last one for 10 years. These dogs are well cared for and very healthy. And I have seen very tiny ones and these are small but not itsy bitsy. Twila and her husband are kind, good people. |
Update I just wanted to give you an update on my previous post, in Feb Twila presented me with a new baby!! Scarlett O'Harner was born Dec 1st! She is doing wonderful and we are so happy. Twila kept me updated frequently on when she planned on having more puppies. |

You got a pup in Feb and she collapsed and died in June? What?.... What was the cause of death? |
surfingbudha- did you get a reason for the previous pups death; is your new one from the same parents? one thing stood out to me on the site, so maybe she can come back and explain... taken from the site- We are proud to announce we have a new Yorkshire Terrier Dam here at Daisy Field. She comes from very good lines and is beautiful in every way. I am very pleased with our new girl and would like to thank Deb for giving me the opportunity to further my breeding program. I now have the opportunity to produce top quality Yorkies that I will be able to show . This is something that I have wished to do for some time. This yorkshire terrier Dam has a very impressive pedigree and is champion Sired. I will post her photo as soon as she is settled in here at Daisy Field. Check back for up-dates. and...We have lots of champion bloodlines in our pedigrees. We are now moving our breeding program into a new level. I now have two new members here at Daisy Field, S.C. They are both Champion sired Dam and Sire. We will introducing the two new ones soon. I now have the great opportunity to produce show quality puppies and I do intend to show in the near future. We will also have pet quality puppies available. I am very proud of these two new Champion sired Yourkshire Terriers. Thanks to a wonderful lady who has giving me this life dream. Thank you Deb and I will make you proud. We will now try to produce show quality as well as pet quality Yorkshire Terriers with those baby doll faces and big personalities. you do sound adamant that it is something you Really want to do, but yet your previous post was... I think what's most telling about those posts is that she claims champion lines, yet she isn't the one championing the dogs. That to me is very vague and misleading. How far back are the ch's? A single great dog in a line is quickly undone if what they are being bred with is less than stellar. |
Sassie collapsed, in my panic I took her to the emergency vet down the street (it was 9 pm, regular vet not open), they took her to the back, came out and said her veins had collapsed and they were "loading her with fluid". I asked about her sugar, he stated, oh, its fine, we are loading her with fluid. He came out 2 other times stating the same thing, the last time, he said she stopped breathing and they placed a breathing tube, he said they got bloody secretions up from her and could she possibly have some kind of trauma. I said no but you frequently told me you have been "loading her with fluid" could you have put her in pulmonary edema by loading a 2.5lb puppy with fluid. He back tracked and said, no, we didnt give her alot of fluid. So my own feeling is they drowned her and never checked a glucose level. I asked him to xray her because of the bloody secretions, he said she was too unstable to do an xray, yet he brought her out to the waiting room for us to say goodbye to (they wanted us to leave and they would call us if something happened), they also told me the estimate would be 850 and they required half down. I told her I needed to go home and call her with my credit card number as I ran out with her in my pajamas. She told me she had to check with the office manager, she came back and told me that if I didnt call back in 15 minutes they would withdraw treatment. It was a horrible experience. But its the only all night emergency vet we have here. As far as buying from Twila, I wasnt concerned about lineage etc. My first yorkie I got when I was 20 at a pet store, he ended up having a horrible cough and the vet educated me on puppy mills and pet stores. He survived and I had him for 13 years, the next one I got from a lady at the flea market who several people reccomended. The puppy was fine. So when Cookie died Christmas Eve I was devastated, he was 10 and ended up with megaesophagus. I looked around the area for a breeder, went out to Twilas, looked and played with her dogs, saw where they slept etc. They are all happy healthy dogs. So I chose to get my new puppy from her. We dont show, dont breed them, I didnt even send in the AKA registration because she is strictly part of our family and thats not important to me. |
Wow, that was a terrible thing to go through. I know I have heard of some complaints of emergency vets in my area. I have never used them myself, so I don't know personally. Did they ever give you a cause or did they never determine? So sorry for your loss and in such a traumatic way. :( |

Having a champion sired stud and dam does not automatically produce a show dog. Any reputable show breeder can tell you that. My litters all have at least 80% champions in their pedigree some champions put there myself on my own dogs. Out of a litter, I may have one or two that can be shown. Sometimes none are what I would consider exceptional show quality. They are sold spay/neuter for pet only and a mighty fine pedigree on them as well. Compared to someone who does not know anything about show dogs, they think bang two dogs together with champions somewhere in the lines and you get instant show quality. You DO NOT! I wish it did work that way. If the original poster wants a nice pet at least deal with someone who knows that they are doing and not breeding such tiny dams. IMHO that is a big no no. |

I sometimes have smaller pups although I DO NOT ever breed for them. I do not sell them until over 6 months of age, they are spayed and teeth taken care of before being offered to a pet home. Hypoglycemia can be an issue and can also be a problem if there is an underlying health issue. I am not even going to address AKA registration, you might as well have saved your money rather than bothering sending in that money for that registration. |
