I was happy with Christina Stumpf in East Earl Pa. I have to admit I was a little wary since that is the Lancaster county area, but Rubi is 8 months old and doing well weighing in at nearly 6 lbs. The breeder had appropriate vet records and health guarantees.
I took her to the vet within a week of buying her and no problems. She has now been spayed and has fit in well with condo life.
I don't know if she is show quality, but that was not my intention.
When I arrived Christina only had 3 puppies and 2 of them were already spoken for. The only reason I got Rubi is someone backed out.

I would like to say that I was shocked to find these accusations about Melissa Barnes of Arkansas. I have no information to refute or support these accusations that she is a puppy mill; however, what I do know is that Ms. Barnes previously bred Welsh Terrier prior to specializing in Havanese. In 2008 I bought a Welsh Terrier from Melissa. Soda (formally Weston) is our pride and joy. He has an excellent temperament, has absolutely no health issues whatsoever and our veterinarian who is a surgeon from Knowles Animal Hospital which was established in 1923 by a renowned medical doctor and veterinary doctor originally from Wyoming, says he is a perfect specimen of the breed. In fact, we were hoping at one time to breed him with a friend's Welsh. Unfortunately, he has had so many problems with his Welsh from Missouri that I have told him he probably did not purchase his dog from a good source. His dog has emotional problems, is out of control most of the time and does not really look like a pure bred Welsh. I hope that this helps and I hope that this somehow relieves Melissa from what appears to be an unsubstantiated and malicious attempt to slander her. People need to use blogs and online chat responsibly, this is not high school where you are free to gossip without consequence. Some people don't understand that their cute little puppy who is a great dog & healthy have parent dogs that are in horrible conditions being mistreated, abused for years all for the sake of cute puppies people buy!

You haven't said anything that is not common knowledge. I have had experience with animals my entire life. I purchased my dog intentionally from a reputable source. I am stating that it is irresponsible and unprofessional and unethical to post information that is damaging which cannot be substantiated. What was said about her was damaging and as far as I can see there is no evidence of such a horrible accusation. Be responsible rather than a ranting extremist. Do you make a living? How would you feel if someone accused you of something that could damage your reputation and there was no evidence to support it? That is all that I am saying. Let me know if there is any evidence to support the accusations regarding Ms. Barnes so that I won't recommend her to anyone else. Otherwise, good luck and God bless.

Reputable breeders do not make a living breeding. They have jobs! They only breed for the better of the breed. They show their dogs. I would not want to buy a pup from anyone that is there to make a living breeding dogs. They do not care about the dogs . . It is only about the MONEY!

It was you that mentioned the money . . I am an educated woman that makes my own choices and opinions. My mother taught me well. Do not tell me what to do or put words in my mouth !

What's funny is most vets clame to not know the breed standards of most breeds so I find it a funny a vet would say that. Why did you not show him if he was perfect? Maybe you just got lucky it happens some times.....
