USDA Breeder List - Please Check for Potential Puppy Mills Here! Potential puppy buyers may want to check this list for potential breeders. Some USDA Breeders are volume breeders and could be Puppy Mills who sell to Pet Stores (remember to never buy a puppy from a pet store!), brokers, and online. This does not mean all USDA breeders are Puppy Millers, however, if a buyer finds their potential breeder on this list, it warrants investigating their breeder further to ensure they won't be buying from a Puppy Miller. The intent of providing this list is to increase the buyer's chances of purchasing a puppy from a Cruelty Free Breeder. :) The USDA List: http://www.aphis.usda.gov/animal_wel...rt_holders.txt |

Thank you for posting this. Great information. |
Wish I came across this list earlier. I bought a puppy from Melissa Barnes from Arkansas. Speaking to her she seem genuine and caring at first. But found out after I purchase a puppy from her she wasn't honest. Had quite a few problems with my puppy...Melissa claimed not to have known about it, but overall he's doing well and healthy. |

I never dreamed there were SO many breeders in Oklahoma. I'm shocked! Where do all these puppies go??? No wonder so many end up in shelters and rescues. |
I purchased my first girl from a usda breeder on this list. I didn't know anything about that at the time:thumbdown and she has had health problems. I was shocked (and I know it is a huge puppy mill state) at the number of breeders listed in Missouri. WOW! And very surprised to see 2 breeders in Nevada and one just 15 minutes away. I have never even heard of them. |

Can't believe how many in Missouri, followed by Iowa, and Oklahoma. Illinois has a small share, but all in the Southern part of the state or so it appears. I would guess they will always be around, but I wonder just how well they are regulated, if at all. |
I didn't see Lambriar Kennels on the list, thats where Max came from.Does that mean their not a puppy mill? |

The problem with this is it might give people a false sense of security. Remember, breeders who sell directly to the public, and over the internet, do not need to be listed with the USDA, only those who sell to pet stores or brokers. The ASPCA has found that the conditions of mills for that type of breeder are even worse, because there are no regulations or inspections ever. So USDA breeders are not the worst of the worst! The ASPCA is trying to change this by having breeders who sell over 50 dogs yearly be listed with the USDA; this thread has more information. http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...mill-bill.html. Again, this just offers little safety because you could sell under 50 dogs and still be a puppy miller. The safest thing is always to visit your breeder's home in person. |
