I'm so sorry to hear this, and I'm very proud of you for taking action. I hope you stick around Yorkietalk and become an advocate for good breeding practices. So many people don't know how to check out a breeder, or don't really see a difference in breeders. They think if the breeder is "nice" or "knowledgeable" it's safe to buy a dog from them. I encourage people to only support the best breeders they can find, I would like all the others to go out of business. People who take shortcuts or are in it for the money, should not be breeding, they can inflict so much pain on others due to their greed. Most breeders will breed any dogs they have, they don't check for genetic illness, and don't know the line. Very often even when they know a dog is passing a genetic illness, they continue to breed, and will even sell the pups to people who are planning to breed.

I got Pennie from an in home breeder, only had a couple of females and male and she was showing signs of illness the day after i got her. My vet tested her for it and it was negative. I spent hundreds on vet fee's and tests, she got so sick she was near death. For 5 weeks I had to fore feed this little girl, it was horrible to see her so sick and I was so frustrated. I took another stool sample in and the next day I was told it finally showed giardia!!!! Four weeks after I got her it finally showed. I should of just assumed that was it and treated her from the beginning! The treatment is only for 5 days and you can get the medication from the feed store. Within 2 days of treatment she was playing! Within a week she was eating on her own and had done a 180 and now is doing awesome. However she lost a lot of hair from lack of nutrition since it was being ate up by the parasite.. She also had skin mites and hook worms. So be sure to always have your puppy tested for giardia and coccidia as they are both very common and easy to get. | |

| I ran across this "breeder's" name on the web and thought I remembered her name from YT. You all aren't going to believe where I found her name, she is selling dogs at an auction in Oklahoma this weekend on Saturday May 15th. Hopefully she is going out of business, she gives other breeders a bad name. Here is the website for the auction and what is advertised to sell. I don't think this is how you treat your "family members" - selling them at auction. Some of these girls are older and deserve pet homes. Donating YT 500 Club Member | I hate these auctions too, Nancy! Teresamag, sadly I don't think Starmye is going out of business, although that would be wonderful news. I have been to dog auctions (before I had a change of heart) and she has sold her sick dogs there before several times. After she uses them up, breeds more to replace them, she'll auction them off to other breeders
