| At 5 monthes she will probably grow some more. Run your finger along the front of her foreleg stopping just above what you would call the ankle. You should feel a bump, just a small one. If the bump is there that is a growth plate. When the forelegs are totally smooth the legs will have finished growing. A judge showed me this trick once and it always has held true for me. Why do you want to breed? Does she have qualities that will improve the breed? Are you wanting to develpe your own line of show dogs? What are your long term goals in this endeavor and is your gals life worth the risk? It's an important decision, I'm so glad to see you thinking it through carefully.

| I'm not a breeder, nor do I think I ever will -- but I wanted to throw my .02 in here . Personally for me, I could just not breed. I think too much of the what ifs that could happen if something goes wrong. I panic a lot and am not good in stressful situations, so I don't think I'm the kind of person that would do well in that situation. I would love to sit in on a labor, but as for me breeding my companions, it just wouldn't work for me. I love the idea of adorable puppies and my dogs having their own families, but I think for me I like to keep it at that, an idea . Anyhow, I think my point is, (lol) that even if your little girl is big enough and a good representation of the breed -- you have to look at what you think you can handle. Look at all the good and bad points of breeding and see if it matches up with what you feel capable and prepared for. I hope that made sense to you, I feel like it was a giant ramble . |

Well thank you. Shes pretty much that size, shes not far off the ground. And I think that if I tried to breed her she could hold maybe one baby if that?? So I don't want to hurt her, bc shes tiny and I don't want anything to happen. | |

| I am just curious, and trying to learn along with Aubrey & Dakota's mommy.... What are they typical costs for things such as a c-section (granted vet/area/complications play a role, just wondering a general)... also, what are the costs for the tail and dew claw removals? You all have given a lot of great advice here! I think a thread like this with all the pros/cons would be a great sticky to help all these owners that are considering breeding have easy access to. Maybe it will make some stop and give it a good long thought before going through with it.

| I know my vets c sections start at 300 and up. The tail docking I thought was 30 but I could be wrong. I have asked before but don't remember, i cold be wrong in that price. |
