| Need help getting a Yorkie to eat....real bad! Hi All, I don't post much and much less start threads but this is bad. I'm sitting a friends 11 month fixed female yorkie, this is not the first time so she knows us and my home well. My friend said she has had trouble getting her to eat herself and with this change it is real bad, I gave her Nutri-Cal twice today because she is sleeping a lot. My Q. is: Is there anything I can give her to open her appetit? Is there any Vitamins that I can give her she is a lil under weight? Thanks!

| Have you tried different brands of dog foods? Also, when I get a finicky one, I will feed them boiled chicken to give them a boost. You can also try the baby food strained meats and baby food vegetables. |

| I would think it'd be most important to worry about getting her to eat than vitamins. What brand of food is she being fed? |

| I would definetly try some chicken or baby food..or possilby a good quality canned food..something with a strong scent that is appetizing..if she isnt eating any of that she should go to the vet for a check up..there could be some underlying medical issues..how long ago was she spayed? Dawn |

it might be a bug to give it time to pass I don't understand but I can only tell her so much and only make her do so much. But since I have the Yorkie right now I want to do what ever a can for her while she is with me. She got spayed in August and actually the dogs problems started since then, the dog has not been the same (health wise).

The only reason I'm looking for a good vitamins is that I think she is too old to still be on the Nutri-Cal.

| How long are you babysitting for the dog? Sounds like she might need a second opinion from another vet...maybe you could take her to your vet if things get worse while she is in your care?? Dawn |

| Have you taken her temperature? It sounds to me like she could be battling an infection and would therefore have a fever. If her temp is over 101 degrees you may want to get ahold of her owner as she will need antibiotics.

| How long has it been since her spay? As LadyHawk mentioned, it could be more than just not wanting to eat. I would try plain, boiled chicken and rice. Mine never want to eat the rice plain, so I mix in a spoon or so of bullion to give it some flavor/smell. You may also want to try soaking her food in chicken broth. |

| Since she's not your dog, just please be careful feeding her anything new... also, have you tried handfeeding her? If she's nervous and missing her family that might help.
