Maybe a stupid Question but.... The stud male I have for my girls is just a little over a year.. I know he has tried to hook up but I think he's the gentle type.. LOL So my question is do they actually have to have a literal hook up to be impregnated? He doesnt like it when they cry and lets go.. Thanks in advance for any advice.. I sure appreciate it. Joy

stud He is still young and will get the hang of it. They can become pregnant with an outside tie. Sometimes the bitch needs to be dilated..ask the vet or PM me..or email..Primyork@aol.com

Another thought is to prove him on an experienced female who is an aggressive breeder. Remember to always hold the two while they are tied or you can ruin what might have been a perfect stud when he is older.. YorkieRose will have more advice so PM her..

Thank you both soo much.. I bought him and was told that he was a proven stud.. This is my girl first time at breeding.. I have been holding but he still seems to get "kind hearted" if he hears her cry.. I tried to PM Pat... I dont know what happened so I emailed... You two are wonderful giving us all such wonderful advice.. Wish I could say the same for the breeder here in our area.. Yeesh.. Thanks again.

Try her e-mail addy. She will probably be checking that more often..I will check my PM....I gave Pat one of my boys, unproven and a little timid. NOT NOW!!! Pat has him so that he can hit a moving target 10 times out of 10!!! I took a friend's virgin female down to Whiz for breeding. Pat and I were all over the floor-that girl was unco-operative. We worked with them for about 45 mins for a 10 min. tie. AND, friend got 4 babies for our effort!!!!!!!! Given his age, I would be a bit surprised if he is proven. So, consider him unproven til you do it!!!!

intuition is a powerful thing... I thought the same thing.. If he was a proven stud then he would not be so timid.. I wont get into all that.. I just want to say thanks for all your help.. We will continue to try and "help" these two out.. Hope we dont have company when were all over the floor with these two.. LOL
