Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Crying 2 day old puppy One of Lexie's pups has been very vocal this morning, quiets down a bit, and then starts crying some more. He still is moving around okay,is not separating himself from the others, and mom hasn't rejected him...I'm not sure what to make of why he's crying so much. Haven't seen him latch on to nurse since this started about an hour and a half ago. Just wondering what I can or should do for the little guy....supplement by hand to see if he'll eat, give him a bit of whelping pudding, some nutri-cal....? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

| Has he been gaining weight? I wouldn't just on supplimenting him. If he won't latch on with a bit of encouragement I would tuck him in my clevage and warm him up a bit. Some need a bit more warmth and snuggling and if he's at the end of the line with mom he may need a bit from you.

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Yes, he is gaining weight and I think he seems to be the most vocal one of the bunch, but his crying this morning was just more steady than usual and I didn't know what to make of it. He's quiet and sleeping now so maybe I was just freaking out. I've just read how quickly they can fade and didn't/don't want that to happen. Thanks for your quick advice! The help on this website is awesome!

Living My Yorkie Dream Donating Member | Just an update....sorry for jumping the gun. He seems fine now, just got done nursing for about 10-15 minutes and is snuggling and quiet. Not sure what his problem was earlier....maybe he was a little cold (tho he didn't feel like it), or a belly ache, or maybe he had a bad dream LOL

| I've only had one cry so I got a cotton ball with warm water and made sure he was not constipated, just in case Mama missed one.

| Pardon me for asking but what do you do with the cotton ball and warm water? Since Diva hasn't delivered yet, I'm still trying to take as many notes as I can on everything!!!!! Glad he's doing better Rose!!! |

| if he has a belly ache or gas you can give him a tiny bit of baby gas drops, I had a little girl in my last litter that was crying a bit and I gave her a little bit and she stopped so it could be gas. just a thought. |

| You just soak a cottom ball with warm water and wipe their bottom to make them go like the Mama does when she licks them.
