Hello YorkieShadow, Thanks for the congratulations and I'd say after looking at your little girls' belly photos that Congratulations go out to you too! Her belly looks pooched out, nipples are sticking out, and her area below looks like it might be swollen too. Question is, does her belly look different than it normally does to you? Has she gained any weight? If she's day 35?did you say, than I'd take her to the vet and see what he says. Anyway, congratulations and feel free to join Yolanda and I here on this thread in posting any new news on your babies' pregnancy. We'd love to have you join us in this exciting experiance!

Post Diet & Nutrients

Since we're about 2 weeks from whelping, I need my memory refreshed...I remember seeing a few threads on whelping pudding. Is there anything else I should begin giving Diva (ex. cottage cheese, etc.) in preparation for her pups. I want to be sure the pups have all the nutrients possible before they are born. Can someone also give the whelping pudding or any other home receipes I could make?

Thanks

Yolanda

Hey Yolanda I asked my vet about cottage cheese and/or eggs and she told me that as long as I was feeding Lexie a high quality puppy food, she should be getting all the nutrients she needs for whelping healthy puppies and that supplementing to much of the other things would mess up the balance of vitamins and such that was already in the puppy food. I do throw in an occasional tsp. of cottage cheese or cooked egg now and then though. When you get your Xray appointment made, let me know when it is scheduled for. That is going to be so cool seeing how many puppies are in there! I can hardly wait, but the weeks are flying by!

Thank You for inviting me to join you on this thread, very sweet of you. I was wondering if its normal for to be so swollen, I mean shes huge. These last few days she has been laying around alot, and licking my arm every chance she gets, shes never done this before. Still being pickey on what she wants to eat. I noticed on the pictures I posted at 34 days that she does have a little pouch , But the difference I see in her pictures and your females pictures at that point are you can see your females pouches going up on each side of the tummy and My Minnies only has a full pouch like a full tummy. so thats why Im not sure if shes pregnant . I will give it another week or so and then take her to the vet if she looks any bigger. I will keep checking this thread and updateing as well. thank you.

Well, I looked at the 30-something belly pics again and I kind of see what you're saying. But, that could probably be due to the different size of momma's, number of puppies, camera angle, or whatever.(Like I know what I'm talking about LOL, this is a first for me). How much does Minnie weigh normally? My Lexie is a little over Yorkie standard, her weight coming from her body length and height. I believe that Yolanda has said that Diva normally weighs 6.5 lbs. In reading your oringinal thread, I'm kind of confused as to exactly what is going on with Minnie with the split-heat and all. That is something I haven't heard or read to much about. So what do you estimate her due date to be? Could Minnie maybe farther along than you think because of the split-heat? That could be a reason too as to why she looks so huge. I'd take her to your vet asap to see exactly what's up. When you do, let us know what you find out.

I had just wrote this big post and sent it and it said I need to login, Urrrgg I hate when that happens, so Ill write it again. lol

I was meaning her Lulva looks huge not her tummy. lol should it still be so swollen?

It cant be from her first split heat because that would mean she would be about 95 days pregnant that was early July.

Her second part was Sep 2nd when I noticed and they tied for a sec makeing her at day 35 if she was pregnant and due around Nov 5th.

Minnies normal weight is 5. 6 lbs
shes 8 1/2 tall
9 long

Mickeys built smaller
hes normaly 5.4 lbs
9 long
8 1/2 tall

But I just got the dig scales out and weighed Minnie to see if shes gained any and its reading that she lost. it says shes at 4.15 lbs and it also says Mickeys now at 4.12 lbs. I knew he had lost some weight, but didnt think she had. is it normal for her to lose weight while being pregnant. I know humans do. Hum now im going to have to take her in and have the vet weigh and check her out, maybe my scales batterie is low.

Well, I'm just getting more and more confused Just speculating here, having lost weight at day 35? Maybe, if she's not had the appetite she usually does. By the time I put Lexie on the scale she had gained a pound, but she was NOT eating very well for about a week or so early on in the PG and vomiting some (morning sickness I presume). So she could have lost some weight early on too. But here we are speculating and wondering as Yolanda and I did at first, so I say, take her to the vet and find out for sure to put all our minds at ease! I'll be watching for any news. Good Luck!

I wouldn't say it's out of the norm to lose weight either in the beginning of pregnancy if she's lost her appetite or has been vomiting.. Hopefully, the vet can confirm foryou soon!! We'd love to have you join us in this journey...I'm a nervous wreck and could use all the support possible...

Default Whelping Pudding & Mother's Recipie Question

Okay, our time draws nearer as each day passes. I have the whelping pudding and the mom's recipie printed out...my question is this. The whelping pudding is for who?, how much? and how often? The mom's recipei is obviously for the mom, right after whelping I understand, but how much do I give her, and is it only for right after whelping? I want to be sure she gets all the extra anything she needs to keep her strength up during the birth and while nursing. Thanks for your help!
