| What traits in a male are you looking for to compliment your female in a possible stud? What is your goal regarding the puppies your female will produce? BTW, welcome to YT. |

| Would this be her first litter? Is 9 pounds her fighting weight?

| Thank you for all the response I appreciate all the help, I do want to become a breeder, so others can share in the beauty of Love from Yorkies. I wasnt sure about anything other than I sensed I could get the right info here to go about my journey into breeding and I could get some help somewhere on the net. Even though she is not the "standard rule" my Lovey is a beautiful loving part of my family, and I am sure she will produce some happiness and love for other people. Thanks again for all your help, Hugs Roxanna |

If you haven't already, I suggest you study your girl with a critical eye; ask yourself what you would like to change about her (this is what an experienced breeder would do). Then find a stud that has those attributes. Study her pedigree, know every dog within that pedigree (what it has produced), health, structure & attitude. Does she come from a long line of free whelpers (very important, her size would be no indication that she can free whelp) when you have done that, do the same with the stud you have selected. Be very selective in who you do business with (contracts). Serious breeders are very selective on the studs they use, usually have their own and do not procure their girls out. Producing happiness and love for other people is a wonderful responsibility. However, in breeding there are many factors to consider. The public/future yorkie pet owners have become very discriminate in their choice of yorky. Producing happiness and love is inclusive of having all the proper tests done on your female.....hearing, vision, x-ray of hips and legs, bile acids as well as insuring she has no STDs or bacteria prior to breeding. Wish you luck in your breeding quest.

| Welcome to YorkieTalk. I am not a breeder but I do hope to be one someday. I would like to breed my Yorkie, Ellie, but I choose not to. She is very special but she is far from standard. She has an overbite, her hair doesn't part down the middle (cottony coat), her ears are slightly large, she has roachback, I am not sure about her parents, I don't think her mtoher was standard... Now, six years after buying her, we are testing for liver problems because she is so off standard. We don't know what her breeder was thinking. Please don't breed a dog that is off standard, especially if you aren't 100% sure that she came from a line of very healthy Yorkies.

| Roxanna - call me. I will PM you my number. I live in Dahlonega, use to live in Cumming and I still work Cumming. I have yorkies and have bred off and on since 1979. I can tell you many stories. There is a lot to learn and so much goes into breeding. Not only do you risk your females life everytime you breed, becasue things can happen. Are you ready and knowledge to deliver a litter - you may have to do things you never thought you could just to save your dogs life. My litter back about 8 months ago - the first pup was posteria breech. I had to place my fingers up in my dogs and reach up in there and unhook a shoulder and then working with the contractions pull and twist the pup in the right position. Most cases like this the pup dies and even the mother (bitch). Will you be able to cut cords and open sacks and get the pups started breathing. This is nothing but the norm I have just mentioned. Then do you know the lines of your female. I can check her out for you if you wish - quality of coat, color, bone structure, movement. You have to know their faults before ever deciding to breed. Have you had all the normal tests run, before breeding? See there is so much and even more to talk about. I don't want to worry you - we all are just trying to inform and educate you. Oh, and then there is all the work and sleepless nights taking care of the mom and her pups! Wow! Call me and I will be happy to speak to you. You can come by and see my babies. I am also a member of the all breed club in Cumming. Great information there and we have a fun match coming up soon - in the fall. T. |

| P.S. There are usually good reasons they come up with false pregnancy - one is thyroid. Have you had hers checked? There are other good reasons too. You probably need to talk with your vet. T. |
