This is Tina's daughter. I just want to let you all know that all is well, so you don't need to worry anymore. I'll let my mom fill you in on everything when she finds time to come on here. Thanks for all your help everyone! We both really appreciate it. |
Glad to hear all is well. |
3 Attachment(s) Well it's been a long haul & an extremely eventful & sad/happy evening to say the least. Lilly began everything just fine... however we got to a certain point & after over 2 hours things wouldn't progress. Baby was breach. So with vet guiding me I proceeded to grab the little feet to help guide puppy out. Worked perfectly until we got to the head. Head was completely stuck & Mommy was already cleaning. Unfortunately she cleaned the puppy completely & severed the embilical cord before it's head was out & sadly puppy died while remaining stuck. Needless to say I rushed mommy & stuck baby to the vet after over 20minutes of struggling with lubricants and all. Somehow she eventually managed to push the 7.5 oz little BOY out along the way & by the time we reached the office she already had the 5 oz little GIRL half way out too! (No wonder the little boy got stuck, he was huge!!) The vet was kind of shocked at the fact that this one was breach as well... but more that she got stuck by the head briefly too! However we managed to get this one out in time & after about 5 minutes of rubbing and a little oxygen we got the little girl to cry. We were all very amazed at how Lilly knew exactly what to do through it all, and hardly even cried in all that pain she must have been in. She just kept cleaning & doing her job right up until it was all over. So I am extremely proud to announce we have a beautiful little female puppy... and Mommy Lilly & puppy are doing well.:) We all had a little food & now both are taking a long well deserved rest. I truly want to thank all of you for your support & I really don't think Lilly & I could have done this with out you all :luvu: Here is the long awaited arrival... little Miss Mallasses (Nick name for now) and Mommy right after the big ordeal.:littleang I also added an earlier one of Mommy Lilly on one of her more cleaner days  |
Congrats on your new little girl!! |
Congratulations Tina on your new baby girl. I am SO so sorry to hear about the little boy. I guess I should say BIG boy. You should be very proud of Lilly and very proud of yourself as well. You did a great job, as good a job as anyone could. I am just so surprized Lilly was actually able to have them herself being that big. Sunshine is just shy of 5 lbs. When she had her 2 babies (Beamer and Rainbow) they each weighed only 3.5 oz. and she ended up having a c-section. I just cannot imagine her having babies that big. GOOD ON YOU LILLY! I hope you are now getting some well deserved sleep. Again- Congrats! Sonya |
Thanks so much ImCKN & Sonya :) It's just all hitting me now & I can't sleep at all. Yeah, I was crying the whole time while trying to help the little boy, but I knew it was too late & there was nothing that could be done for him... by that time I was just worried for my Lilly. I was stunned at the size of him too! When everything was said and done the vet said as tiny as she is, my little Lilly will make a great breeder after all, although after all this I don't know if I ever want to do this again:rolleyes: We weighed the little girl first, and I was shocked to hear 4. 5/8 ounces to start with. 7.5 ounces just seems un-imaginable... but somehow she did it. I can't help but feel if we had given her a bit more time she may have managed on her own with him, but the vet said I shouldn't feel guilty... and we did the right thing by helping her :( I just don't know now when I look back on it all. All I can do is be thankful my Lilly is ok, and we have a very adorable little girl to watch grow. Lilly was so concerned for the little boy she wanted nothing to do with the little girl at all to start, but by the time we got home she began nursing her & now she's being extremely protective & loving with her. I think she's going to be wonderful little Mommy :) |
I'm glad that Lilly is going to be alright and congrats on the little girl. Sorry about the boy. But, thank goodness for the vets that answer our emergency calls. Mommy and baby are beautiful. You have alot to be proud of. |
