Actually ive seen that on Maury and I was like can that even happen? Each baby looked different like their dads

Absolutely! You do NOT have to get a tie in order for a dog to get pregnant. When registering pups, you atest that no other dog had a chance or got to your girl while she was in heat.

I watched a special on the discovery channel where they explained incemination and gestation of dogs. The reason their butts stick together after the "doin' it" part (pardon my phrase) is so another dog can't come in and plant his pups in with the others, so to speak.

But this does not mean that another male can come by later that day or days later or came by eariler and still breed with the same female. Therefore multiple daddies can sire one litter. This is one reason why they have DNA testing.

Yes, you are right. It just gives maybe an hour of protection. Could you imagine them being stuck together longer than that???

If the tie is shorter - then less. Common sense tells us that. Some dogs don't have a tie and others do - time is all up to them. Once they are apart another male can come along and be the dad to more pups from the same female.

I've never actually seen dogs do that, just on tv. I know that the breeders on this site know much more than I do about it. And I've only seen larger breeds do that too. I've never seen a special on yorkie breeding, though I bet it is funny...
