| Help. Is Sienna pregnant? I need help determining if our yorkie is pregnant. Were anxious to know, so your opinion would be great. She started her heat July 19. Our male yorkie began to tie with her on July 25. For about a week thereafter they tied at least 3 times a day. Each tie lasting about 10-15 minutes. It's now August 19, and I would assume with the average dog pregnancy lasting 57-62 days, that her belly would start to show. When, on average, should the belly start to show? Changes that I have noticed are: her nipples have become larger in comparison to their size prior to her heat, and she sleeps a lot more, as well as vomit every few days. Is there anything I should look out for? Any help would be appreciated. |

| Pups spend the first 5 weeks developing and don't grow alot until the last 4 weeks. Because you bred for such a long time it will be harder to pinpoint the day of conception. She would be due after the 24th of Sept. FYI because sperm is viable for 48 hours it is advisable to only breed once every other day for 2 or 3 times. Any more than that is an unnecessary drain on the male. Some breeders believe that too many matings can abort any ova already fertilized; others believe that it might be responsible for the resorption of the whelp by the dam. If your gal is pregnant she should show weight gain after the first five weeks and the movement of the pups should be felt after 7 weeks.

| This is a wonderful pregnancy calculator that I use... http://www.debbiejensen.com/date.html ... someone on YT posted it before and now I have it saved as one of my favorites. I find it pretty accurate. Good luck! :P

| with some mothers to be, they do not show until two weeks prior to whelping. and i agree with tami, you let them tie so many times, it will be difficult to determine the date of conception.

| I would say she's pregnant. As other people said, they don't normally put on weight during the first month. Yet, their nipples normally start to change before. At around 14 days after the second tie (I normally do two with Rubi) I always notice that her nipples redden and become a little enlarged and more pointed. My Rubi also vomits at about the first month into her pregnancy. |

| I have no doubt Sienna is pregnant after all the changes I' noticed. She vomits 2-3 days per week; she never use to. She has been been sleeping a lot more, she's been very inactive as of late. Her appetite has dimished. Her belly is also starting to feel a larger. I will be taking her to the vet next week, so we'll see what he says. I will definitely be getting an xray when the time is right. |

| Delivered on 09/27/07 Sienna gave birth to 3 tiny healthy girls Thursday night. She delivered without any complications and didn't need any assistance. She's been nursing regularly. Her pups' bellies are always full because she's always feeding them. The worst part of the whole thing is she is very territorial. We have to leave our boy, Sebastian, upstairs as she does not like him around her puppies. Anyone know when this attitude will go away, if it ever does? Here's a few pics of the new family. http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...d/DSC02113.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...d/DSC02082.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...d/DSC02105.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...d/DSC02096.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...d/DSC02099.jpg http://i75.photobucket.com/albums/i3...d/DSC02103.jpg |
