| ![]() Twinkles is in actual labor! Temp dropped last night to 98.6 (lowest so far for her). Of course it went back up to 100.4 this morning, but I am ignoring that because she has all the other signs: panting, shivering, contractions, mucousy discharge from vulva, squatting like she had to poop, refuses to eat (will eat ice cream and NutraCal) and is staying in her whelping box! When she tries to stand up, her legs won't hold her up, they shake so badly (reminds me of my own labor). Experts- am I right - is this really labor? or am I fooling myself (again?). Please, please, please tell me this is it! Lynn (AKA Grammy) ![]() ![]() ![]() PS - is it normal for her little heart to pound so hard? I know this is hard work for the little girl, but it is scary for this old lady! |

| ![]() Sounds like she's on her way. Keep a look out for pushing and a marble shaped bubble to come through the vulva. Keep her calm and let us know how it's going. Good luck, you'l have your pups by evening would be my guess.

| ![]() Well it has been quite a day. Twinkles finally had her babies today. it's good news and sad news. She had three girls and two boys. We lost the two little boys. The first one was a stillborn and the second boy, (# 4 in delivery order) was, I believe, the result of a traumatic birth. He was the largest baby (4.8 oz) and his head was too big and got stuck half way through. We used mineral oil and tried to help Twinkles push him out but it took a long time. When his head finally came through, the rest of his body just took forever to finish being born, no matter what I did. When he was finally born, we just couldn't get him to breathe or respond. That was the hardest thing I ever did. The good news is we have three healthy little girls. They weigh 3.3 oz, 3.7 oz and 4.0 oz. Mom and babies are doing great - nursing, pooping and peeing. All have been checked out by the vet tonight and she said they are great. I will post pictures tomorrow. Thanks to everyone for their support and help. I couldn't have done this without all of you. I feel like I have a whole new family.... I love YT. I thought I was the only Yorkie nut aound... nice to know there are a whole bunch of us! After watching my little girl do what she did today, I know they are the mightiest dogs in the world. One question - Twinkles didn't have anything to do with the still born or it's placenta. But the little boy that diedn't make it, she acted like he was a live puppy, just like all the others that lived. Now she keeping digging, like she is looking for another puppy - as if one is missing. Do you think she knows? Has anyone else had this experience? God Bless you all. More tomorrow. Lynn, Twinkles Ollie and the three little ladies |

| ![]() Congrats on the three girls and I'm so sorry the little boys didn't make it. I'm not sure why she's digging but I don't think she's actually aware of the puppy that passed away, I mean, as long as she has the three girls to nurse. Hope somebody more experienced than me will answer the question. In any case I'm so glad mom and girls are doing great. Try and get some rest yourself. I know is the mom who is the most tired but oh boy, is labour a nerve-racking experience for us! It certainly takes a toll on us as well ![]() Post pics as soon as you can and congratulations once again. Rubi |

| ![]() Bell's last litter she lost two (1st time this ever happened) one was disformed and a little girl died on day 2. After that she was going crazy. Looking for the puppies. Even as I was taking them away she would run after me and claw my leg. I showed her them and she pawed at them. I think she was trying to see if they were alive. The puppies are 7 weeks old tomorrow and she is great. It took a few days before she was acting like her old self. But it was painful to see her in distress. Good Luck, hope the babies grown strong.
