| X-ray, Ultrasound done tomorrow?? Hi, Tinkerbell is about to be due anytime now (between the 20-22) and tomorrow I am taking her in to see the doc, to do either an ultrasound or an X-ray?? Which one is better?? Also are there any questions that I need to ask while I am there? This morning I could at least feel 3 or 4 for sure I love to lay there with her and feel her babies they are so active and my boo is so pregnant Thanks

| An xray will give you a more accurate count of how many puppies there are. With an ultrasound you can see some little heartbeats but you can't get an accurate count. Just depends on if you want to know how many puppies there are. I get an xray. |

| from what i have read, xray is more accurate but i have seen many many times on here that it or the dr is incorrect. i think it is good to have done but you cannot absolutely base the amount of puppies on the xray. i know of a girl who had the xray and the dr stated she was having a false preg. so given this information, she did not take off work for the delivery. came home to find 4 puppies all over her house. thank goodness they all lived.

| You're right Lisa, didn't someone on YT, just recently was told no babies and came home to some. I think (and my memory is very bad right now)that one passed away. My sister's maltese may be pregnant with 2 and she's not sure if she's absorbed one. In that case it would be good. But still not foolproof. There's been too many off xrays in too many areas of the US on YT that it's happened too. I would use it to check for base number, and the sizes of the ones he sees. I love palpating moms, before 35 days, (actually do that myself) I love to know if they're pregnant. We also get xrays done after day 45 or so if it's a new mom or have another reason to want one. |

| I know what you mean, blamed on anything from shadowsto hiding under another. You could do a search but it might take you a while. Congratulations on your upcoming litter. May I ask what the x ray predicted? When is your litter due? I hope my sister gets hers done torromorrow, her dog almost seems skinnier. She's due in on the 21. |

| Thank You ladies for all your responses, I think I might go with an x-ray just because she is so far along now. I think I can feel at least 3 babies in her but who knows, whenever she lays on her back I can see the little separations in her belly

My litter is PAST due! She's on day 66 today, but I think it's going to be tonight. Of course I've been known to be wrong before So do you think that maybe your sister's dog isn't bred? Or maybe absorbed? | |

| My sister's maltese has a long story behind it. But the ultrasound showed 2 puppies. 7 puppies, that a big litter! Sounds like my last one. I had seven and they were so tiny. Tinker's Mommy how did the xray go? |

| Well, I took her in today and I asked the vet which one he thought was the best one between the x-ray and ultrasound considering how far along she was, and he said she was way to far along for an ultrasound and not far along enough for an x-ray, he recommended I go back sometime next week just to make sure all the puppies bones are calcified. So no ultrasound or x-ray What do you all think ???

| Howw many days exactly is she? I know it's frustrating coming back not seeing your puppies. It may be her preference, to be sure their skeletons are calcified good enough to see. |
