Peaches C-section Update! The vet just called and said that Peaches did well. She is still recovering. She had a Baby Girl, however they were not able to weigh her because she was struggling breathing in the begginning. The Doctor said that she (baby girl) is now breathing on her own. But it is touch and go. Please pray for her. This is her only puppy and the only one she will ever have.. not that that makes her more special then any other puppy out there... but She has just got to make it. Also, if there is any advice that Breeders can give me to make sure that I help this lil one make it I would So Very Much Appreciate it! Thank you everyone for prayers and support. |

I've been thinking about her all day. Praying her little one will stay strong!! Please keep us updated. Did they say when you could bring everyone home? Is the little one strong enough to eat from mom yet? |
Help Please someone help.. I cant get the puppy to latch on... Precious is 2 ounces She seems to get around pretty good.. but Peaches is not interested in her one lil bit. Anyone... Pm me .. make I can call you and you can help me.. Please, please |
Do you have milk suppliment???? If she's strong and is trying to latch on sqeeeze some of the moms milk out and put the baby on it. You may have to hold mom down...do it if you have to. Also, I know this sounds weird but it works.....use your own saliva and rub some on her nipple and try to get the baby to latch on that way too. if all else fails , you'll have to feed her. Try a syringe, and place on tiny drop at a time...slowly and see how she does. You can also try a bottle but I've found the ones they sell for pets don't work well. The best I've found are to use premie-nipple for humans. Please let us know if any of this works! Sorry I just seen your post and I see if was quite a while ago. |

Good luck with your little special angel. Yes, 2 ounces is a small pup but she's got someone who cares and it sounds like a fighting spirit. Do the best you can to get her to nurse. She really needs the colostrum and sometimes when mom has nursed a bit her mothering instincts will kick in. Hang in there, you're doing great! |

I'm no expert myself but I've bred a few times and a friend of mind who is an experienced breeder always tells me it's crucial the little one does not lose weight, otherwise it'll debilitate fast. I think that the fact she wants to latch on is a very good sign. This friend of mine has hand-reared quite a few pups and she tells me a syringe, one drop at a time, giving the pup time to swallow always works the best. If you have to nurse her for some time, make sure you rub her little tummy after each feed to stimulate bowel and bladder movements. I truly wish you the best. |
Joy still needs help This little girl is small and she has no interest in latching on. I just got off the phone with Joy and anyone who has more suggestions then the ones I gave her, please let her know. She doesn't have nuti-drops. She's keeping her warm and she is stimulating her. She's only drank 1/2 a table spoon since being home. I've given her several suggestions and she's going to try them all, but anyone else have some more ideas?????? Mardeline, Joy said if I talked to you if I'd pass her number to you she'd love to talk to you as well. Sending more prayers to your little one and I just know she's going to stay strong!!!! |

Joy, I'm sorry, I don't have any more suggestions for you. Whatever you do, be very careful with the mother's nipples. Do not squeeze them too hard to get milk. Many years ago, one of my girls had a litter of three with a similar problem to the one your lil one has now. I was so desparate to get them to feed that I squeezed the mother's nipples several times for days and she ended up with a real serious problems of mastitis. I know the lil one is real important for you but the mother counts above all. I wish you the best. |
If she has small tubes of cake icing, or karo syrup that would give some energy before feeding. I wish she lived nearby someone for hands on help. I'm sure between you and Mary you guys have covered everything... Try different teats, get the milk flowing good and stick it right in the mouth. Even then, like a human baby, sometimes you have to move the teat around in the mouth (up to the roof) to get the baby to suck. Please let us know if there's anything we can do or how she's doing. |

yes, you can open her mouth and rub it on her gums (from there she'll lick it off), you just don't shove a chunk in on accident ;) |

Maybe you should get your vet to show you how to tube feed. It is scary and nerve racking but sometimes you have to do it to save the puppies life. |
When I talked to her, I let her know just a TINY TINY bit of nutrical on her gums. I haven't heard an update either. I'm hoping that means she's eating. |
