I Am So Scared! So Upset! I just got back from the Vet and well, It is confirmed. Peaches is Pg. With one Puppy! It was NOT planned! Just incase some do not know the story. I thought "maybe" in the future I Might breed my Peaches. But b4 I decided I wanted to research, learn and have her checked out b4 the descision was made. Well needless to say it happened! Shes Pg. with one Pup and the Vet says it is to large for her to pass. She needs a C-section. I am so scared. I dont want to loose her. I dont even want to think how much its going to cost. I cant stop crying... I am so stressed out! |
Oh I am so sorry and know you are soooo scared. i would be too but know you will make the right decision. Patty |
well at least you know she needs a c-section and it can be schedule. most people end up in the middle of the night looking for an emerg vet that is opened. good luck to you. |
My vet said he does not do that there.. He said I have to take her to an Emergency Vet. ... I asked if I could schedule.. I would feel much better if I could just schedule |
If you don't have to take her to the er don't ask the vet if there is another vet in the area that does them or just call yorself. I hope and pray all works out and please keep us updated. |
If I could schedule an aptt for a C-section what day should it be on... would u say day 61??? |
JoyRene, I'm sorry that this is happening to you and Peaches. :( I too would check other vets in your area to see if they would schedule the c-section for Peaches. An ER vet would probably be much more expensive. What breed of dog got Peaches PG? How big is Peaches? Sorry for all the :icon5: 's. "Good Luck" to you both. :) Please keep us informed. |

Calm down, everything is going to be fine. You're lucky that you know what you know and can take care of this. Remember your lil girl needs you now. So, get as much info and education you can gather before the big event. Mary |
She is 4.14 ounces by what the vet said Today.. She is a Yorkshire Terrier and she is on day 53 |
Also If I can schedule what day should I schedule it for  |

Again, work with you vet for scheduling....you prefer not doing it to early. |
I prefer to do whats best.. For her mostly and the pup of course ... I didnt know if I did it any earlier if the pup would be developed enough? |

start searching look for a vet who know about Yorkies and there probs ask if how many cesarians he/she has done on yorkies you can do this some will even let you in to towle dry |
My vet thought my Jasmine might have needed a c-section when she was pregnant awhile ago (she didn't). Anyway... I was told to call them when she was in labor ... after about 1 hour into it... for the c-section. I think they don't want to go in too early... They had her due date and just prepared to be around then.... My Jasmine delivered two nice sized pups on her own ... no problem. :) |
Please be careful scheduling a day. I strongly do not recommend it (JMO). It's best to let her go into labor, then do it. Otherwise, the c-section could be done to early and the puppy could die. It happens all the time. I haven't read you're story yet, but I will. May I ask here, what is the weight of the parents? BTW, sorry to hear she has to have a section. Oh, I see she weighs 4 + pounds. |
your girl might be able to have the puppy. she is smaller than most but one of my girls was 4lbs and the other 4 and 1/2. the four pounder needed a C-section the other didn't. But, my vet strongly dislikes scheduling the C-sections. he prefers you have him on standby and see if she can have it herself. but, i agree with mardelin, the one puppy will get pretty large. my little girl that had the section only had two large pups. i had another girl that weighed seven pounds, two puppies and also had to have a section. not because the puppy was too big tho. other issues. Good luck. |
i am so sorry to hear your scary new's all will be well praying for you and your baby |
I hope she make it thru all of this and that you learn from it and have her spayed. I'm very sorry she was put in this dangerous situation. She deserves better. |

I think she was looking for answers to her questions and not a lecture. I really hate it when someone comes on to ask a question and gets lectured instead. We all make mistakes and I am sure she feels bad enough already without the additional comments. |
Best of luck with the pregnancy and whelping. We know you love Peaches and didnt mean for this to happen |

Good luck with the c-section...I hope all goes well... Dawn |
No problem. It gets to the point sometimes that breeders are afraid to ask anything for fear they are going to get ripped apart. It isnt right and it happens all of the time. |
problem Don't beat yourself up...it happens...at least it is another Yorkie. LOL I had a poodle I was boarding get to one of my girls a long time back. I had no clue she was in season, no visible signs...no clue two "Porkies" were on their way for about 6 weeks..we were teasing Tess for being so fat.. I gave one to my daughter, "Murphy Brown" was a delight for 13 yrs...and I put an ad in the county paper for the male, $150..through the ad I made a life long friend..we have gone to the NY shows many times..she called her boy "Darby"..I called him "Road Kill" because when he laid down his was very flat... I write all this because the minute you point your finger at anothers mistake, watch out, you are due for a doozy yourself! Best wishes...plan a section or perhaps you can find a vet who will be available..I do prefer they start labor, but it is not always possible. |
