Thank You! I cried last night because I felt so bad for him. I was having so much joy with those little babies and didn't even give it a second thought that something could be wrong with one.

God does answer prayers! Now we need a few more answered that this little boy will continue to thrive and be healthy.

I know exactly what you mean. I woke up this morning and little "Sunny "
had a bit of milk, or mucus, around his mouth and nose and I could hear a bit of wheezing. Of course I panicked and found the aspirator to clean out all airways. I find myself checking him out every few minutes and Penny is getting increasingly annoyed with me now.

I will continue to think loving, healthy thoughts for your little one.
You did a fantastic job. I do not know if I could have stayed as calm as you appeared to be, especially because I know you must have been exhausted already.

You know what really helped me stay calm?....my 18 yr old son. He was up with me and kept telling me that it wasn't my fault and that sometimes things just happen that we have no control over. He also said that it was ok to cry but to not let it bring me way down. He's amazing!

Wow, he is amazing. Can I borrow him when Lily whelps?
I had these little guys keeping me company and I would just look over at them and they were so calm and loving ... just waiting for a glimpse of the new babies.

It appears that our Miss Lily might be in labor this morning. I am concerned because this is her first litter and I do not know what to expect. The vet told me on Thursday that she was carrying just one and it appeared to be good size, but everything seemed good and looked as if there should be no problems with delivery. Her due date is the 16th and so this is her 58th day, but I am hoping that perhaps she might have tied before then and we just missed it some how. When I was at the vet and I looked at the x-ray I was amazed that I could see absolutely everything and I wondered how come in the past puppies were not that clear on the xray pics, Maybe she really is farther along than we thought?
When I woke up this morning she was fine, but now she is shaking periodically and has begun to dig a bit. She also is paying more attention to her vulva, but her temp is 99.1.
Any one with similar experience with some suggestion?

Penny is doing great this morning and her pups are thriving ! I will post more pics in the nursery today if Lily does not deliver.
Little Sprout ( her puppy) is doing much better, but I need to move those big guys out of the way occasionally so that he has an opportunity to nurse without being shoved out of the way.

Sounds like labors starting. We're actually suppose to count 63 days from ovulation not first mating. Which I never do. I never do the smears. I'm just saying that because perhaps it is the right date. My prayers are with you right now, I could imagine how nervous you are. Have the vets number on hand in case of emergency of course.

It's so surprising, because my vet called just a short while ago and for no apparent reason either. It was a very welcome surprise and I was able to ask her what she thought about all this. She seem to think that perhaps the puppy is fully developed because it is a single puppy and we really shouldn't anticipate any problems. It certainly made me feel MUCH better ...
In the meantime LIly seems to be resting at the moment.

How nice is that! That's so comforting to hear. You're very lucky to have a thoughtful vet.

Question Phoebe

Well today is day 54 and Phoebe seems to have lost her appetite. She is due the 20th. Last night she ate a little cottage cheese, this morning she would not touch her wet puppy food. She seems to like scrambed eggs, but is it ok to give it to her everyday??. Any suggestions what to feed her? I know her belly is full of puppies, but she needs to keep her strength up for the hard work ahead of her

I am definitely not an expert, but I will gladly share what worked for me.
I have mostly found that with my girls that they eat when they are hungry and after worrying and trying countless items to entice them in the past.... it usually boils down to the fact that they may skip a day and make up for it the following day, but they usually never went longer than skipping one meal.
I might also try a little cooked chicken too.
I hope this was helpful. Good luck....
