I just called the vet. Maybe I should run in and see if she's having them. He wants to see her. I'm headed out.

I'm back from the vet. Everything is ok. He wants to give her time and let her go on her own since there's no immediate danger. It can be anytime. He did an xray and it looks like she has a house full. 6 maybe 7 They are stacked on top of each other. One is very close to the pelvic bone, ready to come out. Stormy's not wanting to eat so I have to use a syringe and feed her. She doesn't have any room for food.

Maybe you should put the thermometer away. LOL....sounds like she is getting tired of having it stuck you know where and is closing up like Fort Knox just thinking about it. Just kidding. I bet she starts any time. What day is she on now? I thought she was due the same day as Bailey was. It sounds like she is going to have them in her own sweet time. 6 or 7? wow.....you would think she would want them out of there asap. Good luck.

She's on day 65. When I first posted her due date, I posted the wrong date Lack of sleep

Yeah, I think I can put the thermometer away now! I'll tell her that you suggested that and I'm sure she'll thank you! I have a feeling that since I took her in today that she'll have them tonight. At least she could breathe and eat then.

Thats alotta puppies !! Oh, my, No wonder she is taking her time.
We have two males so far and the last was born @ 9:11 PM.
The births have been a bit odd, as the puppies are born, but then we have to wait a good long time for Penny to release enough of the umbilical cord to cut safely. This has never happened before and needless to say.. we were very nervous. The last one took about an hour.
She seems to be resting for the moment and it is giving me a little time to check on you to see how things went at the vet. It really sounds like you will be having another long night, but I am ever so happy to hear that everything is okay.
6 or 7 puppies ..... WoW ! I am so happy for you.

GREAT!! I can't wait to see pictures and to hear of the final tally. The umbilical cord thing does sound odd. An hour is a long time when you're dealing with something like that. I would be nervous too!

Yes, another long night. And with this many puppies coming, who knows when or if I'll ever sleep again! I have a feeling that I'm going to have to supplement them. I hope I'm wrong.

Stormy is resting now. She was really down earlier. Feeding her with the syringe seemed to help bring her around.

I'll be waiting to hear more news.

Sunset Yorkies---Any babies?

It has been a very odd and long whelping . It seems that almost every puppy born had a very short umbilical cord . To help you visualize it, Penny was flush with each puppy with no umbilical cord to be seen...except for one puppy that just whooshed out.

Okay, the final count goes like this:

Male 4.0 ( yep a biggie) born 8:36
Male 3.2 born 9:11
Male 3.1 born 10:25
Male 3.8 born 10:28
Male 4.0 ( another biggie ) born 11:15 ( this was whooshie)
Female ( FINALLY) 4.0 born 11:25

Penny is doing wonderfully and I am so proud of her. She is exhausted, but so happy to be with her puppies.

OMG!!! She had a belly full too!! You barely squeaked by with getting a girl I'm so happy for you and I'm glad that everyone is doing good.

It was a huge surprise. We have never had a litter larger than four puppies and with this being her last I think she really wanted to make it memorable.
I will send pictures tomorrow. Since the last one I had attempted to post did not work, I will wait until tomorrow to figure that problem out. Too tired to even consider it tonight.

If Stormy is resting I hope that you will be able to do so also?
I wish that I could stay online tonight to keep you company, but I think I better hit the sack once I get things organized and cleaned here. I will be doing a repeat with Lily in just one week!

You think 4.0 ounces is big? When Trixie had her 7 puppies, the smallest was 4.0 and the largest was 5.2 That was a load!

I'm kind of glad that I found out about how many today. I knew that there was more than 3 but I probably would have thought that there was no end to the puppies coming!

Looks like Penny is going out with a BANG! I can totally understand you being tired and will cut you some slack on the pictures tonight

No problem with not being able to stay up. I would be hitting the sack myself if I could. Only one week for you to rest up and do this again!
