| ![]() I would bet that the xray was taken too early. The bones must be developed in order to xray and that is done about day 50 to 52. We had Lexie xrayed this morning and I am sure glad we did. The vet tech put me in a room, so I knew the news was going to be bad. Well it WASN'T!! Lexie is carrying a large litter, but they all look good size and healthy. I asked that they picture her while on her back and they did, but also did one from the side, and that one was so much easier to see the little ones. Lexie is homebound and no-stress until delivery. I am so excited I can hardly contain myself!!!!

| ![]() a friend's coworker just had this happen to her. had the xray at day 55, was told it was a false pregnancy, then she came home from work to find 4 puppies that had been delivered all over the home. luckily, they all survived.

| ![]() Did your friend see the xrays ? How can a vet miss a whole litter of puppies ? I would ask for my money back. My Suki is pregnant and I will definetely have xrays done for all the above reasons. Like everyone said it is your call your dog. But it will help to give you an idea what to expect as far as the delivery and hopefully the right count of puppies. My baby is scheduled for the 25th of this month for her xray. i think it will give you a piece of mind and calm you down a bit. I know it will me. Good Luck |

she has gone back with the puppies and asked for her money back. they did give her the money back and apoligized. this is not the first time i have heard of this. if the babies are small and in a certain position, it can be very hard to see on a xray. this is why most people prefer an ultra sound.

| ![]() It's so odd how diff all the vets can be. Ours says not to waste our money on an ultrasound. They can't count the pups or see how large they are as it's too early. The only thing you can usually tell is that they are prego or not.

| ![]() We had an ultrasound with Roxie's first litter. She confirmed that she was pregnant and guessed that there were 2 maybe 3 pups. Bad guess, she was carrying 6.

| ![]() i had an ultrasound on Little Fart (Dixie) at five weeks because she is so tiny I was worrying myself to death. Thee ultrasound showed two and maybe three. all moving all over the place. on day 55 we had a side view x-ray and a top view which shows how big the pups and the mothers pelvis are. it confirmed the two. maybe three and one big one. Well, that big one is the one that stuck in the birth canal and caused the c-section which the vet had told me might happen. so i was prepared for the section. She was spayed at the same time. |
