| Both parents have to be registered in order to register the puppy.

| You can't get papers from a reliable registry because you can't prove that the unpapered parents is a purebred. If you want to show or breed you should keep looking. If it's a pet make sure you get a good price. Good luck

Donating YT 14K Club Member | You can't get AKC papers if both parents aren't AKC registered. However, you can get them registered through another regstry...APR, CKC (continental), etc. However, AKC is the longest registry in America and the most reliable...in most cases.

| AKC papers simply prove that the consumer is getting what they pay for, a full blooded yorkie. I've had pets that weren't papered and they were wonderful. I can't prove that they were pure bred but as pets it didn't matter to me and he was a rescue so I didn't pay alot.

| If your not going to show, then the paper's are not really neccessary. Did you see both parents? I guess alot of people that are not showing dogs but want papers just want to have a peace of mind that their dog is a purebred. I think its a matter of preferance *sp*.

| I think you hit it right on the head candi ! Also just for info. when I went searching for my yorkies, i found a breeder in south Florida that had a very cute yorkie, but its build was a little out of place. when I asked to see the parents, she was fine when showing me the female, but said the male was not there, Her husband showed up and said yes he is and brought out a dog that i would have bet money was a chiwawa (how ever you spell it ) anyway I said that dog is not a yorkie, she said he was 1/2 yorkie and 1/2 chiwawa (spelling wrong) She said that they do have papers but they are CkC registered, She prefers them because they are not as strict in the breeding of there dogs... (dont know if it is true ) but i am glad I kept looking and found 2 gorgeous full-blooded AKC yorkies. My females background has 3 generations of champion show dogs. Yes I am breeding my babies. But I also have a Full blooded AKC Bassetthound that I dont have the papers for and really dont care about. We love him with or without them. he is the family hound....Just depends on what you want the puppy for ??? |
