| Estimating Adult Weight Help. Thanks. Hi guys. I'm excited to say that we aquired an eight week old Yorkie girl this afternoon. We had her to the vet and she's healthy. She is eight weeks and is just hitting 2 lbs. I know this has been discussed before but can anyone refresh me on what the estimated adult weight should be? I know it's not written in stone but I'm trying to get an idea. The vet said that he did not think she'd hit six pounds. I know you guys are more experienced. Thanks. Elaine |

| Congrats on your new baby! Gotta see pics Here's a good chart our breeder recommended. It's been right on track for Calliope, too so should prove helpful for you! http://www.yorkiepassion.com/growthchart.htm

Luvs Lulu Donating Member | If I remember it's usually double the eight week weight plus a pound or so to be on the safe side. As always it's can be an iffy thing because you can get a baby that just blossoms with a growth spurt. When I got Lex at 14 weeks he weighed about 3 lbs and now at eighteen months he is a whopping 9 1/2 lbs.

| It didn't work for us either, Little Bit was 13 oz at 9 weeks and now at a year she's just a little over 5#. According to the chart she would have been 2 lbs at 18 months |

| So do you know if there is a chart out there that is a better "predictor" than the "estimating" chart?

BANNED! | I use the rule of at 8 weeks times their body weight by 3. 12 weeks body weight x's 2 as a rule. Remember these are estimates and alot of other factors will prevail such as sire and dams weights, their genetics and such. There is no way to ever guarantee a full grown weight. |

| Thanks. Thanks guys. Whatever she turns out to be weight wise is fine with us. We're really excited and needed this to boost our spirits a bit. I posted about a month or two ago about our ten year old Yorkie Newman being diagnosed with stage III cancer in his foot. He's doing fine right now, but the vet gave him no more than a year and it was devestating. My 13 year old son took it very hard as we all did. I started inquiring through various breeders reccomended here on YT and ended up finding and falling in love with a little one right in our neighborhood. Her mom was smaller then I thought a female should be bred. She was small and looked to be about four pounds. The father is about the same, so I'm thinking according to the chart and the parents that she shouldn't hit more then five or six pounds. The vet didn't think she'd hit six but you really can't tell. She seems to have long legs, but then again she was the runt and kind of scrawny so she just may look tall. Thanks again and I'll post some pictures soon. She's tuckered out right now. LOL. On an ending note, I do wish that the woman that had her kept her longer and not sold her at 9 weeks as I think she could have stood staying with the mother longer. Mom seemed so sad when I took her baby and baby seems to miss his brothers and mom. Elaine |

| Hannah weighed 2 lbs at 12 weeks, and now at 7 1/2 months she weighs 4.2 lbs. She has only gained 1 oz in the past 1 1/2 months. |

Awwwww this made me tear up a little My Calliope has long legs too - we call her Super Model when she stretches out...looks like she's showing off hee hee Cali and her Mama kissed each other when we seperated them. Cali had big tears in her eyes. The breeder and I started crying at that point too! It's sad. Glad you got a new dog before Newman got too ill. I did that with my kids as well. Their old dog wasn't doing so well and I figured it would help - it did! Hang in there and we'll keep our eyes peeled for photos!! BIG HUGS TO YOU!
