| 3 pound 7 weeks old puppy is this normal? my little girl is 3 pounds and her brother is 2 pounds, i talk to the vet about her weight gain and he said it fine but she maybe more than 7 pound when grown up. has this ever happen to anyone before with your puppies, my vet said he never seen a 3 pound Yorkie puppy at 7 weeks, her mom is 7 pounds and dad is 5 pound, she a very lovable playful puppy. |

| ohhhhhh yes. alot of breeding of larger yorkie mommies is to blame there but 7 lbs full grown is a standard yorkie. the 7 lb mommy might have had a 10lb mommy.

| Possibly...in anycase, if you are judging by the standard for the breed, then yes, this is rather large...if you estimate by the triple the weight at 8 wks, double it at 12 wks, you are looking at an adult in the 10 lb range. Of course, you really can't guarantee what the adult weight will REALLY be. |

| Yes, it does happen. I have a line that grows and gains up front, maybe not 3 pounds at 7 weeks......But by 4 or 5 months they've reached about 5 pounds......stop and and do a growth spurt.....usually level off between 5-6 1/2 pounds. Sire is a small boned male....but, his line is not known for small wee ones...... So, it all depends on the pedigree and how tightly they are line bred.....How often you see a certain dog in the pedigree.

| Sounds like to me U might have U a Miss Tiffanie on U're hands lol! My Female Yorkie is 2 now and she was a big one when I got her at 2 months old, I thought she wasn't a Yorkie and then when she had her 1st litter sure enough here came Sir. Lancelot just like his mommy! Biggy! But a doll, I called the lady I got Tiffanie from and she said Tiffanies mom ALWAYS had 1 larger baby in all her litters!! So I bet it's handed down the line! Oh they are still loveable and cute as can be even tho they are big...Tiff is a 10 pounder now! To where my male Teddy is around 6.5 lbs and their baby son I kept Sir. Galahad @ almost 1 year old is 6 lbs. 3.2 oz...Strange how they each turn out when older. Hugs, Lee Quote:

| You could have a yorkie that will be bigger or you may have one that stops growing early. Sugar and Candy are maltese, but maltese are the same size as yorkies and the weight is estimated the same. At 6 weeks old they weighed alot, not quite 3 pounds. Now at 7 1/2 months old they are 7 pounds and have not gained weight since they were 5 months old. Their brother from a different litter was the same. So you never really know how they will turn out, just when you think you have it figured out, they end up suprising you.

| Yes, I let her rest this past fall and I "Think" she might be with puppies...She's acting diffrent now and does when she is with puppies! And I'm glad I waited for her to miss a heat to breed again..I have the Daddy and Mommy both. I'm not sure but I'd say at around 8 lbs. I'd have to ask my sister to bring him to my house where I have the scales to weigh him...I'll ask her tomorrow if she's had him weighed. I gave him to my sister cause she has Benji her Yorkie and he's 14 now and getting older and I know if his time should come it will break her heart. He's been such a good baby for her and a doll. Yes Sir. Galahad is from the same breeding...I guess it's just in Tiffanies line for her to have 1 bigger baby. Hugs, Lee |
