| Question about pregnancy I've been reading alot of great info on this site, there seems to be alot of knowlegable and helpful posters here.Anyway I was talking to a friend about the site(she too has a female yorkie)She asked if I knew how to tell if her girl was pregnant.I guess she bred her with a family members male, she said they tied on 3-2-07,so I guess it was about 37 days ago.She said her female has a small lump on both sides of her lower abdomen that wasnt there before and around her teets has been somewhat enlarged, she also said she has been very lazy and loving.Since I've never expierenced a pregnant yorkie I dont have any answers for her but I thought I'd try to find out for her.Sorry if I dont have alot of info. |

| The first sign of pregnancy is usually a change in body shape and nipple size. I'm not sure but think it's too early to tell anything at this point. Sorry I'm not more help.

| Please don't take the lack of responses personally or as a refusal of help. It's just that I don't think anyone can give you an answer...kind of hard to tell you 'yes she is carrying' or 'no she isn't' from a description. The best you are going to get is an 'It's possible' which is no different that what you or your friend are already aware of. Pass on a Good Luck to her in any case. |

| They can gain weight with a false pregnancy. I have a girl who is going through it right now, she has gaines weight, her nipples are elarged AND expressing a tiny bit and her tummy was getting big with a it of morning sickness. I know she hasnt been around any male to get pregnant except my boy Diesel but he was only 12 weeks when she was in heat. Yes I did freak out and take her to the vet just to confirm what I already knew. Her tummy is now going back down...thank God! I wouldnt say that your friends girl isnt preg though especially if she has been around a male. |

| My vet like to do X-rays to determin pregnancy right around day 50. He says it is easier to tell how many (if any) are in there. Some vets like to do them sooner some like to do them right around day 55-57. Let us know if she is indeed pregnant!

| most, not all, will show about the 45-55 day. it is very difficult to tell before then. the only way to tell if there is a false preg is to have her tested or xray'd. some vets will not do a xray. if a vet does xray, usually it is just before delivery...59th day b/c they cannot see the babies very well, count the spines and heads, until this time. of course, there are vets that will do it sooner. you need to ck w a vet. do you know how many ties and what day of heat the ties took place??

| Here is a good canine pregnancy calendar to help you tell at what stages things happen. http://www.debbiejensen.com/date.html |
