Question About Registration Papers And Breeding I am a future breeder and I do not want to sell my puppies with full registration. I would love to have each puppy spayed/neutered before leaving me, but I know that is not possible. I plan to sell my puppies with limited registration and have the buyer sign a contract stating that they will not receive the forms until they have proven that they have had their puppy spayed/neutered. Does this work...will it keep people from buying my puppies for breeding purposes (at least hinder)? Thank you! Tammy |
it all depends on how honest they buyers are...there are some that might run a puppymill that will promises this and that only to find out they are breeding them...and maybe registering the puppies under another litter... good luck with that... |
You can put in your contract that they have to provide proof of spay/neuter by XXX age or surrender the dog back to you...I don't know how effective that will be for you, but it is what I did with our litters and worked. By the time the pups went home though...I had met and talked with the owners many times and felt like I 'knew' them...some of them I did know already. |
Very true! they buy your pups telling you everything you want to hear:mad: Then they turn around and register them with another register and breed them. That is how sometimes you get these nice looking baby's that are not registered with akc. |

Something else I considered was incorporating a 'must be s/n by xxxx age' and then I would reimburse the $$$ for the surgery. (Charging that much more upfront, obviously.) Or just give back a flat amount with the verification. Like Sugar's Mom mentioned though, you have to make sure you can keep contact with them. I understand your idea of not getting the papers until they've been altered, but like someone mentioned, they can always try to get them registered with another registry and breed anyway. Plus, I personally just don't trust people, so if I don't see and get papers then, I probably going to be very wary. |
Ok I have a question. dont take offense to this please. I was wandering why you would limit their registration? I mean is it so you can charge more for full registration? or is it cuz you dont want competition? i understand not wanting to sell your puppies to a puppy mill or w/e but is it really fair to limit someone from what they are paying their money for? I mean i guess if you agree to it before the buyer doesnt mind i was just wandering why you would want to. |

that didnt really answer my question, if not for those reasons then why? i think its hypecritical to say is because you love your dogs and want them to go to a good home when you obviously breed your own dogs and im sure you love them as well. so no one else is capable? im not trying to make anyone mad i just want to know. i am skeptical i cant help it. |

there paying for a dog that after they buy you want them to then alter. I do not think its right to alter a dog if it is not necisary. I have never fixed any of my dogs if they came fixed theres nothing i can do but i think it messes with them and its makes their personalitlies change. i think that cruel to ask people to buy a dog and then change it. if i buy something i dont want someone else telling me what to do with it. it like selling someone a car and then telling them to go paint it black after they have bought it. like here got a white car for sell sign here and say youll paint it black after you buy it tho. |

I still want to know why someone would do that though that is my original question. I do not undertand if its not so you wont have competition, and its not cuz you would make more money for full registration, then why? i dont see how you can say its cuz you love them when your doing it to your own dogs as well but you dont want anyone else to breed their boughten dogs. im so confused. i just want to know why you think its ok for you but not someone else. |
