Oh my...you honestly think that just anyone should be able to breed a dog! You said, "i just want to know why you think its ok for you but not someone else". Do you have any idea how much research goes into breeding?! A person should not breed just because they have 2 dogs that have full registration. I have read, researched and talked personally with breeders and researched and read some more!! I never said that it is not okay for other people to breed...just not going to sell mine for breeding.

I have considered only giving limited registration on some of my puppies BECAUSE i felt like they might be too small to breed. people will promise you anything to get a quality dog. "oh no, they will say, I am not going to breed and put her thru that". next thing you know, they are on here advertising babies for sale. Smaller bitches and smaller males, I might add, should not be breed unless you want to kill them. if a person really cares about their smaller dogs, this is the only way they will sell them unless they know the buyer really well and wholeheartedly trust them. I have sold one to a person like that with the stipulation she breeds her IF she gets large enough. I trust this person one hundred percent to do the right thing. turns out, her baby will be large enough to breed so no worries. i have a girl right now that weighs about three and a half pounds. She is going to be spayed and sold locally. i don't trust most people here in my state not to breed her because it is about the almighty dollar that small dogs bring here. i hope this helped a little bit. Also, I agree if someone does not want to buy a limited registration dog, then my goodness, they are most welcome to look elsewhere. Chances are, I wouldn't sell one of my precious babies to them anyway with an attitude like that.

and all im asking is why? do you not think others cant research as well? and no i do not think that just because you have 2 dogs you should breed them. i just want to know why some breeders would use limited registration, theres got to be a reason for it and you have not given me one.

thank you for atleast an answer. I full understand the smaller dog thing. that would be life threatening for the puppies. Im not trying to offend anyone i just wanted to know why some breeders use it and you gave me your answer i appreciate that thanks.

you have to understand, with full reg you are purchasing their breeding line AS WELL as their dog. for most breeders, it takes years to get their line perfected and to just let someone else change that?????? i dont think so. breeders work very hard, takes years and money to accomplish this. this should be RESPECTED not LOOKED DOWN UPON. so if you want full reg, you need to purchase the breeding line as well.
IT IS NOT HYPERCRITICAL AT ALL TO HAVE THE DOGS ALTERED.
i don't mean to sound ugly but you really need to learn more about breeding and breeding to the standard, pedigrees, etc....
again, i am not being ugly but it sounds like you have much to learn. lots of people come to this site to learn but you should never JUDGE anyone for their trying to protect what they have worked on for so many years

OHHH and another thing, reputable breeders should NEVER be question regarding their reg. they derserve more respect than that.

im not. i just dont understand how you can think it would come back on you and your line. you didnt breed the puppy and do it wrong if you sold it and it got bred. and im not a breeder nor have i ever been. so i do not know these things and am just wandering out of curiosity. i only have 2 dogs of differnt breeds and my male is fixed he came that way i didnt do it.

It's a good start but unfortunately, not every buyer will be an honest one. Many will just register the pup with another registry.

You may want to speak to your vet about early spay/neuter. I believe that some will do it at 12 weeks of age. That way, you can make sure that it is done before they leave your home.

so the pedigree will show other peoples dogs as well even tho they arent the father or mother of your dogs?

Okay, I'll bite. I only have 1 litter a year. I do not breed every heat nor do I breed two and rest one. I breed every other.

Someone that lives here in town has bred her girl every single time since she turned a year old and not only that, but the girl has an over bite.

I request spay/neuter because the person buying my pup may not be as loving with him/her and breed them every single time...as the above mentioned person does. Just because I want spay/neuter does NOT mean that I'm being a hyprocrite. If I sell with open registration (which I charge the same for open or limited) then you better believe that it will be to a person that I trust and that I have built a relationship with and that I know will take care of the dog as I take care of mine.

The pedigree will show the parents, grand parents and great grand parents.

If they take your dog and breed it to a bad dog, and the offspring have problems, then it reflects badly on both parents.

BTW there are way more health risks with dogs that are not spay/neutered, such as breast cancer and testicular cancer. so I don't understand your reasoning behind not having it done. If it change their personality at all it would only be for the better, making them more affectionate and less likely to run or to be agressive.
