We have looked at the Biewer, the Parti-Yorkie and the Yorkshire Terrier. We have 2 Yorkshire Terriers, both males.
We LOVE the coloring of the Biewer (more so than parti), the tempermant and their build. There is a lot of warnings out there about being the real thing and this week a breeder in Hungary played some crazy games with us, we were heartbroken and still looking...
We LOVE Yorkshire Terrier BUT have a lot of fear buying a Yorkshire as there are a lot of bad lines, mills and let's just say people doing the wrong things with them, or we could be here all day.
It seems the Parti is more scary?? since it is fairly new any problems which may arise have not yet been discovered?
It also seems that breeding the Biewer and the Yorkshire is not advisable nor acceptable?
Any advise, comments and yes criticisms are welcomed.
Thanks!!
I'm so sorry to hear you ran across a bad breeder in Hungary! Just don't give up, and keep looking -- you will find your "perfect" puppy soon!

I can't comment on the Parti's, but I have a Biewer and I don't think you'll be disappointed if you add one to your family! The most important thing that I could tell you is to research, research, research and when you're done -- research some more! You can google Biewer and find a bunch of info. Also, there are several Biewer Breed Clubs that you can check out. Go to www.biewertalk.com and also use the search feature here on YT. as these little beauties have been discussed at length.

As with any breed, there are some breeders who are just in it for the money, and really don't care about the quality -- just the quantity. Some will say all the right things -- just to "close the deal." They can put up a website, with wonderful pictures, and convince you they know "all the answers." When in fact, they have copied and pasted from other sites, let others do the research, and actually haven't a clue about the breeding. They put two dogs together and have puppies, without understanding bloodlines, pedigrees, what faults are what. They'll sell you their pup, and give you breeding rights because "the puppy is cute," "it's got good markings" or "it will be the correct size."

Like someone mentioned -- research the breeder well. Talk to several, and then ask for references. Vet references and past buyers. Find out all you can!

Didn't mean to go on so long... but I just love my little girl, and I see so many bad quality pups being sold by bad quality breeders. Keep your eyes open!

I got my Lola from a YT member (snow yorkies) and her site is www.magnoliasmagnificentyorkies.com. I need to get some updated pictures, but here she is at 7 months old...

OK wait i am confused? Why are they disqualifing blck and tan? because it says right on the AKC papers when it asks for colors and that is listed? I much preferr the black and tan to the blue and gold/tan i think that they should be allowed.

To be totally honest i really am still so confused on what the appropriate steel blue really looks like there are so many variations of colors now from silver to black that i can't tell anymore. Does anyone have a pic of a true steel blue?

There is a new disqualification that has been written into the standard. The wording for the disqualification is forthcoming. The disqualification is specifically for showing of off colored yorkies. This doesn't affect AKC registration.

so that means if i wanted to get into showing i couldn't show Daisy because she will be black and tan?

AKC will register blue/tan/gold and black/tan/gold but will also register parti colored and chocolate. These last two colors are not seen as widely as the blue/tan/gold and black/tan/gold colors, so are not listed in the normal color section of the application. Photos have to be submitted when registering parti colored (I'm not sure about chocolate).

YTCA decides on the rules and regulations for showing and according to their rules, the only colors listed as standard colors are blue and tan and blue and gold. So if YTCA is going to now "disqualify" dogs based on "off colors", black/tan and black/gold will automatically be disqualified because they are not the Blue "standard". Or are they going to also make black/tan/gold a standard color now??

Does someone know the answer?

I understand that the standard was written by the YTCA. And they have disqualified the parti color. But I don't understand what you are saying in regards to the AKC and opening of the standard. The YTCA has never accepted the parti color, so what has change?

I guess, as Sue said, we'll just start our own breed club, for all off colored Yorkies.

Another question, People produce oversized yorkies all the time. They cannot be shown but they are registered. So what is the difference between one that is not standard sized and one that is not standard color,.

I don't understand why the YTCA is obsessing over this. Are they afraid that the parties are going to be more popular. than the traditional colored ones.

I do not think they are "obsessing" I think they are simply trying to protect their breed.

I am confused? How are you going to start your own breed club for off colored yorkies, when they are just not the right colors? I don't get it. No matter how you put it, they are and will always be a yorkie.

A biewer is not a yorkie. We are trying to seperate ourselves from the yorkie world all together. Biewers have a set standard that the Biewer breeders must abide by.

So I guess I am curious, how do you go about getting the ok to start your own breed club for off colored yorkies, when all they are, are really yorkies with a color variation? Have you set forth a standard? Have you been ok'd by a parent club, and in this case, I would think it would be the YTCA.

I am just curious in how you are to go about all this?? Inquiring minds want to know! LOL!

Hi..Just thought I'd respond a bit to your question..
I first want to say I'm not an expert on Biewers, Yorkies, Genetics or breeding. I don't know much about Parties, so I can't comment on them. I've had a Yorkie for 4 years and last year I got my first Biewer...I now have 5 Biewers along with my Yorkie and Aussie...(yes, crazy about dogs)

I initally wanted to get into breeding Yorkies so I started to research..I read, I talked, I listened and there was just soo much information and soo many breeders it was very difficult to get a handle on what were good lines, good breeders etc. I felt very intimidated since I knew so little about anything, but I knew I wanted to get the best dog I could afford and learn to show Then I became frustrated...I came across Biewers on the internet. There were not as many breeders out there to keep straight and since most of the breeders were new to Biewers and breeding them, they were friendly and helpful. I started looking in Germany and after a year of looking felt I knew enough about the lines and breeders to start the process of finding a good dog with the specific lines I wanted. In the last year I have been fortunate to get pups from 2 of my favorite lines with the 3rd lines pups coming in April (finally!!) I was blessed with a breeding age female from a breeder who was retiring in Germany and hope to breed her to a wonderful boy here in the states. It has been a long, grueling journey with many highs and lows along the way BUT worth every minute of it.

To me, the Biewers are the most wonderful dog in the world. The personalities seem to be a bit mellower then the Yorkies I've seen. Some of the terrierishness is not there (if that makes sense) Other than that, they are very much yorkie..which I love!! The coats are amazing, remind me of Josephs coat of many colors..there are many, many things that have to be just perfect to make the dog a good candidate for breeding and showing, just as there are in Yorkies. It just seemed to be a little easier for me to get started and get my arms around enough information to be comfortable with a breed that was just starting here in the states...It is a very exciting time for Biewers and their breeders. It is also a very important time as we are helping to write the history of this breed, it is an awsome responsibility.

One of the posters mentioned they got their pup from Sue at this web address www.magnoliasmagnificentyorkies.com I would also recommend Sue highly. She is very knowledgeable and very helpful to all who have questions. There are many very good breeders here in the states, there are some very good forums to get more information about the breed and many clubs to read about. There are differing views on a few aspects regarding the Biewers but all in all, most of the people who breed, own or just dream about the Biewers are wonderful, caring devoted dog lovers.

I can't tell you the joy these little gems have added to my life, everyone who meets them just falls in love with them..just can't help it!

OK, I'm done with my book...sorry, guess you can tell I'm passionate about these guys, sorry, sorry, sorry!! My suggestion would be to join the Biewer forums, learn all you can, talk to trusted breeders and join in!

Thank you! You nailed exactly our concerns and the weeding process is the long part, after all that is done than we are torn with the "breed" issue. I knew yorkie talkers would be the right place to get answers!

She is fabulous!! Exactly why we keep going back to the biewer. What you meniotned is a lot like what was happening in Hungary. Pictures of her and parents, the lines and registration all great. Every time I would ask a question I would get the wiring instructions for the money, nothing else.
We purchased our Ewok from a breeder in Hungary 2 years ago. She was fantastic, he is great, a champ yorkshire. We purposely waited until he was 5 months as I fly to wherever the puppies are and carry them home but for Ewok it was not possible. The breeder made arangements for a team to care for him in France and she worried about every detail of his flight as much as I did.
In the case of the biewer, the puppy is 12 weeks. I personally would like to pay maybe 1/2 for her and wait a month as I think she is too young for the trip. Again all I have gotten is the wiring instructions to the breeder's bank account. Not a comfortable feeling at all.

THANK YOU ALL!! (Sorry for starting the Parti controversy) We are talking and looking and asking and somewhere out there is a little girl who will add to the amazing gifts we already receive from our babies.
