Help-I know you guys can! Mom in waiting.... I am new here. Just found this awesome place a couple of days ago. Forgive me, I am computer illiterate and don't know how to post anything if my life depended on it. Anyway, my yorkie girl tied on Dec 7 and 9. So by my calculations, she should have delivered by now, right? Her teats are a little bigger, no milk though. Her tummy feels bigger and I think I may have felt 2 puppies. But when I go back I can't feel them moving. For all I know it could have been gas. Seems to me they should be moving all over the place right now and I should be able to feel them. I have an old fashioned vet. When I questioned her about an ultrasound/xray, she told me that dogs have been having babies forever and that I was to be patient. Made me feel stupid for even asking. So here I am waiting and waiting. One of you guys said they could even go as long as 7 days over, right? Does this happen more often with the first litter? I wanted to breed her once and get a little friend for my girl and one for my daughter before I get her spayed. I have had toy poodles before and know about birthing, etc...so that's not what I am worried about. It's just so hard waiting for something to happen. This site is awesome. I wish I would have found it when I was first searching for my girl. Thanks guys.

Here is the info i got off of debbiejensen.com A great gestation calendar. Looks like she could still go a few days if she goes over...or o'd late. Canine Pregnancy Calander Pregnancy Calendar for Dogs Date: Sat 10 Feb 2007 Sire: Dam: Breeder: Sat 9 Dec 2006 First day of mating. 48 hours after the first mating the bitch should be mated again. Subsequent matings occurring over a period of time enhance the chances of fertilaziton taking place. The spermatozoa migrate up through the cervix. Sun 10 Dec 2006 Sperm travel searching for a mature ripened eggs. Sun 10 Dec 2006 - Mon 11 Dec 2006 Spermatozoa reach the eggs in the oviducts. Mon 11 Dec 2006 - Tue 12 Dec 2006 Fertilisation occurs in the oviducts which lead from the ovaries to the uterus. Tue 12 Dec 2006 - Thu 14 Dec 2006 Fertilised eggs migrate down the oviducts and into the uterine horns. The migration continue to enable even spacing of the embryos. During this migration the eggs will grow into a blastocystes. Wed 20 Dec 2006 - Fri 22 Dec 2006 The blastocystes implant in the wall of the uterus. Wed 20 Dec 2006 - Wed 3 Jan 2007 The blastocystes will grow into an embryos. During the next two weeks the important organs will develop. Sat 23 Dec 2006 - Sat 30 Dec 2006 Dams nipples begin to pink enlarge. The fur on the dams belly and around the nipples may become thinner. Fri 29 Dec 2006 - Fri 5 Jan 2007 Morning sickness might occur due to hormonal changes or stretching and distension of the uterus. Dam may appear a bit apathetic. She may be off her feed for a while and vomit from time to time. Feeding the dam several meals spaced throughout the day might help. Your veterinarian may want to prescribe a drug to relax the uterus. Wed 3 Jan 2007 - Sun 7 Jan 2007 An experienced person (a breeder or a veterinarian) can tell by careful palpation whether the dam is pregnant. It's now the best time to do this because the embryos are walnut-sized now and easy to count. Sat 6 Jan 2007 Start to increase the dams food ration. Don't overfeed, excessive weight gain should be avoided. The foetuses are now and are fully developed miniature dogs. Fri 12 Jan 2007 The Dams abdomen starts to get larger. Mon 22 Jan 2007 It's very easy now to feel the puppies, counting them might be a bit more difficult. Thu 25 Jan 2007 - Fri 2 Feb 2007 Dam begins to spend a lot more time in self-grooming. Her breasts become even more swollen. She may become a bit restlessness and begin to search for a suitable place to have her puppies. Sat 27 Jan 2007 The dam might lose her appetite during this period. Her abdomen can be crowded with puppies. It is better to feed several smaller meals spaced throughout the day. You can easily detect abdominal movement now. Sat 27 Jan 2007 - Sun 11 Feb 2007 Nipples and vulva should be gently cleaned with warm water, you might want to trim the hairs surrounding the nipples, to allow easier access for the puppies to suck. Tue 6 Feb 2007 - Fri 9 Feb 2007 Milky fluid may be expressed from the nipples. Wed 7 Feb 2007 You might want to start taking the dams rectal temperature each morning and evening. Sat 10 Feb 2007 Twelve to 24 hours before she is due to deliver, the dams rectal temperature may drop from 101 to 98 degrees. Clear discharge from the vulva might occur. Sun 11 Feb 2007 Expected date of whelp. Of course this is just an average. Whelping may take place from the 59th to the 65th day. Puppies born before the 58th day will probably be too young to survive.

Thank you for the calendar. I think I had found that one earlier or one like it. The 11th didn't come up tho, it was an earlier date. The problem that I am having is that I really can't feel any puppies although she is bigger. Maybe it is because she moves around so much. When my poodle was pregnant I could definitely tell, you could see the pups kicking. No such thing now. Do you think she could be having a false pregnancy then? Guess it's just like my vet says, be patient and wait. So...will wait some more. Also, what in the heck does it mean when you say bump someone?

| It could be a false pregnancy, they still have all the same symptoms. I guess for now it is all a waiting game. Did your vet palpate or feel for any of the puppies or do anything to determine whether she was pregnant?? As for when a person says bump, they are bumping up the thread so that it stays active and gets seen so you can get a response quicker.

I agree I think she is having a false pregnancy. Must be. Because even though the books all say that you should feel something moving around in there even if you have to hold her still for ten minutes, there is nothing. But then, why is her temp going up and down? So, I am kind of hoping that she has one at least. I'm not getting any sleep cuz I'm afraid that I'll miss something and not hear her. Hubby keeps making fun of me. Also worried because I took all last week off of work and have to be there, so that leaves hubby in charge. I made him watch a video, read up on everything. Told him to call me if and when it starts to happen. After reading what some breeders had to say though, I really got scared. I was really breeding her because I didn't have a spare $1000 sitting around to buy her a companion. Even though my hubby is home most of the day and me most of the night, I think she loves being around other dogs and needs someone. I think maybe if she isn't pregnant I am just going to get her spayed. Don't think I could go through this again. Thanks for all the advice guys. I really appreciate it.

Hey! good luck & hope it works out for you & your pup. I know what you're feeling. I bredboth of my girls around Christmas. The one that I wasn't sure would take ,because she didn't seem interested in the male, is fat as a tick & has large breast. She should deliver around Feb 26. The other female was a little huzzy, puttin her stuff all up in his face 7 tying up every time they were together. Well she has gained a little weight, her nipples swelled for a couple of weeks but I'm almost sure there's no babies in there. Hope it works out for you but it sounds like she's probably not preggo.
