We had a great night last night. Mommy started to lick pup!!! YEAH!!! She still likes me to be very close, but that is okay. Baby gained another .3oz since yesterday morning = )

Here is a picture 1 day old!! I am so happy that she is doing well. Thank you all for your help it has made it a lot easier!!!

Oh yes we are going to keep her. The whole family has bonded very tightly to this little one. I could never let anyone take her. I feel like she is my own.
We named her Scout after the little girl in "To Kill a Mocking Bird". She is the strongest bravest loving little girl I know in literature. It seemed to fit and I can't imagine a different name now = )

More progress today = )

Lilly will stay in the whelping box with the puppy and if it cries she goes and sits next to it and licks the pup while it makes its way to a comfortable spot. Thank you LORD!!! I still don't feel like I can turn my head...but at least now I think she would intentionally hurt her baby.

Puppy is gaining well I think... she started 3oz and this morning I weighed her which is just day two and she is 4.9oz.

I know I don't have it all down...but I think this baby has a very good chance. If you guys can think of anything I may be missing please feel free to advise me... your the pros! Thank you!!!

Scout is an awesome name!! I am so glad you are keeping her and I would do the same thing in your situation!! I am excited to watch her grow!!
