Price is dependent on who you purchase your stud from. A good quality stud from a reputable breeder that would entrust you with one, involves more that $$$, as they keep their studs for themselves. My studs were obtained 1st, by finding a breeder/mentor that over time trusted me with their line, knew that I would Champion (paid the price of a show dog) him and not offer him for public stud. Most stud owners are not involved in the whelping process. You pay their fee and unless the breeding doesn't result in pregnacy....the only thing a good stud owner's responsibile is for the offspring.....In other words, say you place the puppy in a home and the new owners can't keep the puppy, and you can't take the puppy or assist them in placing them in a new home, it is then the stud owners responsibility to take the puppy back or assist them in finding a new home.
As far as finding a stud....that is a difficult process for someone that is not an exhibitor..
