tail length

Thanks all, I knew I named him wrong should have called him nubby!!! LOL
I did find out however that even tho he has a nub for a tail I can still show him, points may be docked, however he can still be shown. May never win, but its all in fun and showing off my baby. I guess thats why the good breeders have very expensive vets that know what they are doing.

I guess you will have pups here and there that do not have the common markings, but it's a good general guideline, IMO, since there is no set length such as 'docked to 4.783645 inches exactly.'

Vets don't go to school to learn how long to cut tails for every breed. That's why it's pretty much up to the breeder to assist him. The docking where the tail starts to narrow had never failed my breeder/mentor and all are very consistent when pups are grown.

When I take my pups in to the vet he always asks me where do I want the tails docked. I always tell him medium length. I've always had good results this way.

I take off the last third..right where it narrows...half is too short for me and never cut into the gold IMO...
