My Tiny Treasures Donating Member | Stud Service producing only one pup or dead pup I was wondering what the "norm" is when a person pays for stud service and the bitch produces only one pup or produces 1 dead pup? If you stud your male, do you charge a fee (if so how much do you charge when the person will be selling as pet only and male is AKC pet only) or do you apt for pick of the litter? |

| Stud fee should be the same regardless. One puppy does not make a litter so the bitch owner should have a free breeding. Dead puppies, I don't know. There was a thread on this recently. I have Ceeby offered for stud and his fee is three hundred dollars. But, no one has wanted him. Poor baby. |

| fee I feel one puppy is a litter..and it should be alive and well at 8 weeks...if not I would give a free service... Should the stud owner request more money if the bitch had 6 pups oppose to 3? I bought stud service once and got 6 girls..the stud owner had a fit and wanted one...I paid her fee in cash, up front, why did I owe her a puppy? And she did not get one. Pick of the liter is not smart...but if anyone insisted and there was one pup, I allowed them to pay the fee and keep the puppy. |

| I personally do not offer stud service. But I have paid a stud fee before and the contract read "one live puppy is considered to be a litter". If there had been one dead puppy and no live puppies they would have given me a free stud service the following heat.

| my stud contract does state "one live is a litter". if there is only one pup and it is dead, i refund 200 b/c you cannot state who or what was at fault for the dead pup. my fee is 350.00. thank goodness this has never happened. kirby has alway had 5 in his litter

| ? Five what? Males or females or a combo of both...the dog determines the sex and the bitch determines the amount of pups in a litter..just like humans. |
