| Important question for the breeders. This may pertain to breeders and sellers as well. I recently have been looking for a little yorkie for my girlfriend of 4 years. She has been asking for about 2 so I decided this was the moment she is ready to take care of one. I have looked all over places, the only time I have actually come in contact with one was at a pet store in which the yorkie was over 2,000$. I found that to be high. I continued my search online and there are tons of people selling them from 200-1500. I have seemed to notice that sites like domesticsale.com yahoopets.com have a bunch of fake people just asking me to send them money. They say that they want me to western union and that there is another breeder they know to contact, etc. They say they are on missionary trips in Africa all sorts of excuses. I also seem to notice the photos of the dog to be stock photos not even like they are natural. It is beginning to bother me that there are so many dishonest people out there trying to make a quick buck. I want to know a list of good websited, people, or any place to get a yorkie for nearly 800 and under. Something that will stay at 4 lbs. or so. I am scared to do business with all of these people so I don'y know where to start. I visited a site called purepups.com which had some beautiful dogs but I am not sure how real it can be...someone please steer me the right way. I am new at this so bear with me. |

| Visit the Yorkshire Terrier Club of America's website YTCA.org. You have plenty of reputable/responsible breeders in Florida.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | being that you're in FLA you should be able to find a breeder near you....but you're right - those sites are full of scammers - and PLEASE try to stay clear of pet stores if you can - most all buy their puppies from puppy mills It's hard when you're new to searching for a yorkie - there are brokers out there .. websites and unethical breeders who claim to be the best breeder in the world - people claiming to sell TEACUP yorkies (which is a selling WORD to hype the price up) etc (there is no 'teacup' yorkie technically) you have to weed thru ALOT of hype these days to get a yorkie puppy..... But...the upside is - there are REAL breeders with ethics out there. Your safest avenue is a breeder who has the puppies in her home where you can visit and see how they interact with you. At the prices yorkies are selling for that's what I would do. The net IS scary but this site has a ton of information on it and breeders too - so you should get some good advise.. ps. WELCOME to the site ! |

| Keep looking and good luck. I am a new breeder in Florida, But will not have any pups till June. If you have not found anyone yet. I got both of my pups here in Florida from 2 different AKC breeders and my pups are PERFECT! Course all YORKIES are. Be so very careful of where you get your precious pup from, If you want the perfect Yorkie make sure you stick with an AKC Puppy, there are other clubs out there, But when I went to find my pups which took me over 6 months to find the right pup for me. I ran into a breeder which told me over the phone that they were AKC registered. I drove 106miles to see this puppy. The puppy looked O.k. BUT when I asked to see the mother and Father of the pup, The Father was part chinchilla you could tell by the puppy head of the father when I asked to see the AKC papers she gave me a application for the puppy for CKC, I asked what the difference was ( I already knew )but wanted to here what she said. She told me AKC was too strick in the breeding. ( no brainer HIGH QUALITY WITH AKC ) I told her no thank you and left, So if you can make sure the Father and Mother is on the premises and you can see them. Watch them interact you will know just by watching and handling the pups which is right for you. I must have seen over 30 puppies before I bought Mai-Tai and Suki , although I could have taken them all home. I knew they were the right puppies for me. Good Luck. She will be so very happy. |
