| Introduction Hello, I am new to this site but have been reading for several weeks... I keep getting a message to do a post to introduce myself... and don't want them to cancel my subscription if I don't post... so here I am. I have a female yorkie, who I believe is pregnant. I did get her bread... and I have a very knowledgeable mentor who did breed and show yorkies for 15 years... she has sinced moved on to standard poodles and dobbies. She is well known in the show ring, so I imagine some of you may know of her or heard of her. She has been working with me since I purchased my yorkie, and will be right out to my home when my sweetie goes into labor. (if she is infact pregnant, the vet believes she may be, but isn't 100% sure either, since she is not even a month into her possible pregnancy) The only reason why I am not 100% sure if she is indeed pregnant is because she has had a false pregnancy before (I did not breed her that time, so I knew it was false) and many of the sx she has now, she had then. I have been reading here for some time, to gain more knowledge, along with the many books I have read and the many questions that I have asked my mentor. Honestly I have been nervous to introduce myself, since this is my first possible pregnancy, and since I did it on purpose, I was afraid to be considered a byb... I asked my mentor about this, she said I am not considered a byb, but a hobby breader (everyone starts out the same way, at the begining, everyone has a "first" time pregnancy) that is trying to better my yorkies lines... she has straight, but more of a cottony coat (blk/tan)... no other genetic defects that we know of, the vet gave her a clean bill of health... she has a great personality, even the breeder said she has a great disposition, and is a wonderful dog , but a little spoiled. I was a bird breeder, which I had to stop because of my sons allergies, but I do know what it is like getting up each hr to hand feed, since I had to do that with my bird babies, I do know how much time and dedication raising babies takes. I realize that dogs and birds are different, but they both take a lot of time and dedication. So that is my intro, and hopefully my account won't be cancelled. I am a "lurker" I guess you would say and am glad that this site is here for us to read. Have a nice day. |

| Thank you for the replies and welcome. I have been using the search feature and have many questions answered that way. I talked again with my mentor, me and my girl are going to visit her tomorrow, so my girl is very comfortable with her by the time the possible pups are due. Jasmine (my girl) knows her well already, but I want to make sure she keeps in contact with her, so her possible birth won't be stressed more because of the mentor being in the pen with her. Thanks again |
