Dock/Dews - how much do you pay? My vet doesn't do them so I'm going to be looking for a vet to do this. What do all of you pay for yours? All dews and the tail dock? I'd like to get an idea before I call around. (after seeing it done on my video - there's no way I'm going to do it yet or I should say theres no way I'm going to start to learn at this point) |
It was 45 to do 4 for me. Of course, the vet is a family friend, so I don't know what it would be for a regular person. |
I just called a vet that another breeder friend uses and they told me $28.00 office call and then $10.00 per pup. Is that high? I don't think the per pup cost is but if you add on the office call it gets up there. |
I just took 3 puppies in for Dock/dews and it cost me $73.00. I'm in N. California. $43. for one & then $15. per puppy |
My Vet. charges $20 for the office call and then $12.50 for each puppy and a check up is in the price i guess that's not to bad. |
15 Per Puppy |
Breny, it isn't hard to do if you have someonee hold the squirmy pup. We do ours and they look so nice. |
My vet charges a 22.00 office visit fee and then 15 for ea. tail and 8 for each dewclaw. I told him that was rediculous. Another vet in this area is 26 ea pup for both tail and claw. |
It all depends where you live... I paid $85 yesterday to have both my puppies dew claws removed and tails docked. I was quoted from $25 to $400 each puppy, ridiculous...I guess the $400 vet doen't like to do them??? I saw my vet do it and when I have another litter I will definately do it myself. :p Sugar's Mom, I am gonna ask you when I'm ready, lol... |

I am so surprised at the cost of this I could have been making so much money running all over the country doing this for friends. At least they could pay for the gas. Just kidding, as long as they learn to do it themselves and I do not have to keep traveling it is worth it. |

Really? How does he do it??? And at what day 3 or 5? |

I'm impressed!!!!!!!!! You go girl :) Well maybe I'll talk more to Sugarsmom and think about it..... |
I just paid $10.00 for each pup for the tail and $5.00 for each pup for the dew claws and no added office call for a total of $45.00 for three pups and for that price I will never do it myself! |
Here in the Seattle area it's $35 for the first pup and $15 each after. There is no office visit fee. Not sure I could ever do it myself. :p |
My vet in N Muskegon did :aimeeyork tails & dewies for 2 puppies for $34 on day 3. |
I guess I'm lucky I had two done and it was $35.00 total no office visit charge. |
Holy cow.... If I remember right, I only pay $4 per pup. That's for the tail and dewclaws and no office visit charge. |

Well guys, I was really ripped off by my vet!! She charged me over $200 (yes, 200) to dock 4 puppies tails and have their dew claws removed. When I called to see how much their first shots and worming would be, I was quoted a price of $294 (and possibly an extra $25 for each puppy for an office call). I wised up and asked Romeo's breeder if this was a little high. He said it definitely was and recommended his vet. I paid $81 for the wormings and shots and I really liked the vet. Oh, and by the way, our new vet said he charges $8 per dog to do their tails and dew claws. He does not charge for an office visit. I feel like a complete idiot!!!!! A lesson learned the hard way (or at least the "expensive" way)!! |
I pay $5 per pup for dewclaws and tails and my vet also gives them a check up. No office visit charge. |
It only cost me around $8 a pup for both docking and dew claws here in Illinois. No extra charges either |
10.00 a pup for both tails and dewclaws and no office charge:) |
Between me and the parents, we have 9 dogs at the current time. Plus, since I breed, we're all in there more than the average bear, so I guess she figures she can give us a little break. |
Only had 1 pup this last time to get done...day 4, cost me $6.75, no office visit, no extra charges, that was the total. Boy am I glad I don't live where some of you guys do. Sheesh! |
So do you think the office call charge is cuz its not my regular vet??? I wish my vet would do it but I guess he doesn't beleive in it. He's all about things being natural. |
It cost me over 150 bucks for five (two litter's) but this vet is pretty high. Although the next one that I would trust is about 60 cheaper, other than that they all want to charge an office visit and then at least between 16-28 per pup!! |

I called a few places in NY for my sisters pups, her Vet said $15 per pup for tails and dewclaws. 2 other vets priced it at $95 per pup. She chose her regular vet, total of $30 for 2 pups no other charges. |
my vet charges $43 for the first pup, $8 for each additional pup:D |
